Talking about lists Benteke was not on the list I got at the beginning of the TW so I think this might have been a bit of smoke and mirrors by the club and we have somenone else lined up. I have to admit I am suprised there has been no movement in or out this week. My deepest apologies to Hottie as well, but one is better than none!

He put in a transfer request and made it clear who he wanted to join.

He did his part but the clubs couldn't agree and Villa rightfully played hardball and won.

Personally not that fussed, I said in the Benteke thread that £20m+ was a big risk for someone who has only had one (albeit good one) season in the Prem. We've seen it before where a striker has a purple patch (in some cases just half a season) in the Prem, is over-hyped, gets a move to a bigger side then doesn't live up to expectations.

I'd much rather we signed someone who has proven himself in a decent league for more than one season, especially if we're spending that much.

Not a knee-jerk after a rejection, what I thought all along, on to the next one Danny boy, if Villa are struggling in January he'll be off anyway.

All hopes on Ade? There's almost literally no one available now, except Soldado and Leandro who are both overpriced.

No there are some others available. Osvaldo, Matri, Dzeko, Jackson Martinez, Cardozo, Ba and Cisse. And thats from the top of my head.

This is the one area that I do get annoyed with Levy about, identifying targets and getting in the unheralded players. Saying that, I'm not sure whether this (scouting network) should be his responsibility over the last few years or the managers. I guess ideally the DOF would look after it, so with Baldini now in place hopefully we improve in this area.

Its funny I read a Labrokes article this morning offering 4/1 for Benteke to stay at Villa...saying it was an incredible price etc. I just laughed and thought, what a load of shite....getting some mug to waste his money lol

exactly the same here dude - I saw it in the Racing Post and had a good ol chuckle at the bookies eeking the last few £'s out of it before he came to us... Brilliant. And I must say you seem to be taking it very well (benteke news)...
