That is an expensive fee for Livermore but when you look at young England players who have been capped Internationally and the huge fees they've attracted ; Jones, Smalling, Henderson etc, then I guess you can understand slightly why Levy would start at a high price given the nonsensical market. We forget that there is a lot of time left in this window-of course you start high and then drop lower as and when interest doesn't appear and/or during negotiation.

The problem is all clubs are over valuing their players at the moment, just look at McCarthy and the price Wigan want

Do players get a loyalty bonus if their contact runs out?

PL players are always overvalued unfortunately. Benteke would only be worth 15 million coming from any other league.

The thing is we are probably likely to get more for Townsend than any of the other ones we are looking to sell. AVB obviously not that sold on him and he may have been assured that money will go straight into his transfer pot.

I'm not adverse to that providing we are going be to getting in someone superior who has some pace and can play as a wide forward.

Although I was curious to see how Townsend would do this season all the same.

As for the others, its normal for Levy to hold out for as much as possible. Just hope we aren't being too unrealistic.

Townsend has yet to be given a good run and chance with us so to say he is one dimensional is rather insulting when you dont know how he will develop with good coaching and direction. You also dont know that Chadli will be any better in the EPL at least Townsend had a good half season with a struggling team and was able to look a star turn for them at a young age. I dont know if he will be a great player or not nobody does but hey lets not slate him before hes even had much opportunity. Reason why we are called SUPPORTERS you know!!! (y)

I'm not slating him & I'd appreciate it if you didn't question my support. The boy has never shown me anything to make me think he offers anything other than pace. He scores 1 long range shot for QPR and is voted their player of the season, despite playing less than a third of their fixtures. I believe that's nothing to do with how well he did, buy more about how crap the rest of the players played.

Remember, you're talking about a team who's manager said "we badly missed Ryan Nelsen when he left".

I think it's obvious where Townsend features in the mind of AVB, due to the fact that he could have recalled him any time he wanted but preferred to stick Holtby, Sigurdsson, Dempsey & even Dembele out wide. He's clearly not going to get a look-in before any of the 4 players I just mentioned, which is why I believe he may as well be moved on.

PL players are always overvalued unfortunately. Benteke would only be worth 15 million coming from any other league.

Being the EPL though bar La liga and Bundesliga I'd still rate it as the toughest league to compete in. So in some instances as with Benteke who I think proved his true worth in a mediocre Villa squad by basically keeping them up single-handily is worth a price-tag of 20 million + add-ons, where as in others proven talent can go to waste we just have to look at Villa's bench and find Bent's face to point and laugh at cause he cost 17 million each time the fucker moved. So its a double edged sword and I think Benteke is the kind of risks we SHOULD be taking :)

In my opinion our problem with outgoings is other clubs know we are going to re-enforce once we've freed up the wage bill and a few million for the kitty, We're competing up there in top 4, We're looking to make quality signings and this gives them an unfair advantage over us. They will be low-balling us / wanting more for their players because come the end of the window and start of the season we have more to compete for than other teams. And the big spenders haven't done anything to help the prices either.
All we can do is hope we get the business done that's critical to our squad and future whilst getting fair value for our outgoings at the same time.

Would be a shame if Towsnsend goes. Nothing like a kid coming through the ranks and making it. Doesnt happen enough these days!

Not saying he will dedinately make or is going to be a world beater. But think he has a chance!

Im NOT talking about our ex manager at all. We are talking about Townsend, you say he has never shown you much to think he would offer anything I say that is because we have not seen much of him at all. He has spent most of his time with us on loan as many of our yoof has, he has appeared for us just a handful of times where he had some good touches showed some flair and speed and also made mistakes and went missing - go figure hes a young lad that hadnt played much at this level. Im also pretty sure that the QPR fans did not rate him so highly on the back of just one goal either.. that does QPR fans an injustice saying they are morons - we're talking QPR here not Wet Spam lol

The problem I always had with Townsend was when I did see him in a Spurs shirt he looked proper ordinary - I don't think he's going to turn into Bale (or even Lennon maybe?).

I could be horribly wrong but I think he's a Etherington

I like Townsend, he looks like a potato & I love potato's, I'm not suprised there's interest in him, in his 4 months at QPR he got voted fans player of the season. Down to AVB though I s'pose.

Its our refusal to budge on price, and paying players a fortune in wages instead as their contracts runs down thats stopping us doing a leeds.

Why are we over pricing our players? Do we never learn? I'm sure we could have sold Bentley for a reasonable fee, but instead we paid his wages and got nothing....

I'd prefer townsend to chadli

Really not fussed about losing Townsend. Not saying he is a bad player, but often looks a bit clueless and runs into players. Gets by on just pace a lot of the time.

Might improve, but don't think he will be a huge loss (providing we have someone better lined up)
