Im NOT talking about our ex manager at all. We are talking about Townsend, you say he has never shown you much to think he would offer anything I say that is because we have not seen much of him at all. He has spent most of his time with us on loan as many of our yoof has, he has appeared for us just a handful of times where he had some good touches showed some flair and speed and also made mistakes and went missing - go figure hes a young lad that hadnt played much at this level. Im also pretty sure that the QPR fans did not rate him so highly on the back of just one goal either.. that does QPR fans an injustice saying they are morons - we're talking QPR here not Wet Spam lol

This is simple, you think he's good or got a future at THFC, I don't. There's no point going on & on about it & screwing up the thread for everyone else. You'd prefer to keep Townsend than get Chadli, I obviously wouldn't, due to the fact that one is a fully pledged international with CL experience & a very good goalscoring revord. Whilst the other is a lad who's been loaned lots, figured little and is, in my opinion, unlikely to achieve anything like the other one has..

Sorry we disagree!

Why are we over pricing our players? Do we never learn? I'm sure we could have sold Bentley for a reasonable fee, but instead we paid his wages and got nothing....

Because every other team is?? 20m for McCarthy (rumoured) hes a good player but 20m good? So I guess that we pick up the phone to enquire about players availability and price etc and get quoted ridiculous figures so when other teams contact us we do the same maybe???? Dont know for sure of course Im just speculating but it seems that way to me IF we are to believe everything that ITK's and News outlets say??? We all know a lot of the hype and over inflated prices are probably just media speculationa nd sensationalism and in reality we rarely get to know what the true costs and figures for any given player transferred from one team to another really is.

Would be a shame if Towsnsend goes. Nothing like a kid coming through the ranks and making it. Doesnt happen enough these days!

Not saying he will dedinately make or is going to be a world beater. But think he has a chance!

Would be a massive shame letting one of our own go.. He proved he can be a good player in the PL last season. He is direct, fast, can use both feet (obviously left is best) and is comfortable on either flank. Obviously he isn't the finished article but he has earned the chance to compete in our squad.

Would we? He looked decent in an absolute pants QPR side, which in all honesty wasn`t very difficult, even JJ looked half decent.
Surely then he passed the first test in stepping up? The second test would be stepping up as wing cover for the Mighty Spurs? The boy can only show what he has with the chances he is given. I don't think he is a Bale but certainly the potential to match Lennon or Wallcott; who knows without giving him a chance?

Look coops mate Im not saying I would prefer one or the other Im simply pointing out that we dont know how Townsend will turn out because he has never had a run in our team. Maybe he will get one this season maybe he will be sold, I personally think he would be a good viable option from the bench to replace say Lennon or maybe if we wanted to change formation or something and a cup match starter as well IMO. Dare say we could have him and Chadli on either wing etc... but your right about boring other users so apologies to one and all (n)

Danny Rose and Andros Townsend were just about the best players in the teams they represented last season.
If that hasn't earned them the right to compete in our squad lord alone knows what will.
I would question the purpose of our youth system if both were allowed to leave without a season in the first team squad. If we got to next summer and they'd played a handful of games each then fair enough, we owe it to them to let them move.

Now just seems a bit too soon; unless, of course, we have tangibly better players in their positions and beyond Bale for Townsend, I don't think we have.

Plus, it was stated earlier on in the window by someone (can't remember who) that they'd be in the squad this year.

The same can be said about Rose - great for Sunderland but nowhere near as good as BAE.

If we can get decent money for both Townsend and Rose then we would be stupid not to sell them and reinvest the money elsewhere on better but cheaper European or South American players.

How much would it cost to replace BAE? I'd guess £10m to £15m so I'm guessing our price would reflect that.

I see this is becoming "the daily Townsend thread"... We really could use some (positive) ITK right now.

Would love some ITK about Baines. Honestly think having him as left back instead of BAE would propel us into title contention. We would have a lovely balance to the side.

Oh well I can dream.

Dont think he will be at Goodison come the start of the season anyway.

So we're haggling like fuck while asking ridiculous prices for our players...sigh. I was hoping this was the window we wised up a bit.

Would also be a bit disappointed to see Townsend go, unless we stick a hell of a sell-on on to the deal, he looks like he could end up a very good player.

I think we would be daft to sell Townsend and Rose, both went on loan last season and performed well so should be given at least a chance unless we want to signal to all the youngsters that a loan is just offering you a chance of leaving, should be sending out the message, perform at this level and you will then be given a chance at spurs, for me we need to cut our losses and ship on players like huddlestone who clearly will be on a more bigger wage than the two mentioned above.

I like Townsend, he looks like a potato & I love potato's, I'm not suprised there's interest in him, in his 4 months at QPR he got voted fans player of the season. Down to AVB though I s'pose.

I'd like to point out that I too love potatoes and if townsend left spurs, I probably wouldn't even notice.

Really? You'd prefer a very limited player (only offers pace) to a player who is capable of not only getting into a VERY GOOD Belgium team, but offers diversity & has been chosen ahead of the likes of Fellaini?. Fair play, I'm sure Townsend would also be capable of that ;-)
So what gio's one of Mexico's best players how did that work out? Townsend's more proven in the epl as well, best player in a pl team last season, chadl's not even twente's best player or even there best wide player. We wouldn't sign him if it wasn't for his contract situation

Is there any way we can sell Andy Townsend instead? I hear the Guatemalan cartels are looking for morons for target practice.
