It has a very similar feeling to the window this.

Initially everybody is adamant that we need another forward to compete/support the workload for Kane. ITK supports this.

As the window draws to an end the ITK dries up and people's opinion starts to soften; Poch only wants to bring the right player etc - let's back him.

I get that, I really do. But which ever way you look at it, heading into the last 3rd of the season, fighting on 3 fronts with a evidently knackered Kane as the ONLY striker is very disappointing.
If you look back through my comment history I've been fine with Son as the second striker for a while. He's perfectly good there and I wouldn't trade him for most of the back-up strikers in the league. Come to think of it who has a better back-up striker than Son?

The objections to him remind me of the objections to Dier in midfield. All Son has done when he has played as striker for us is produce goals and assists yet people still doubt him.

We have a good chance of actually winning the League. It's utterly senseless if we don't reinforce our position today.
100%. We are weaking because situations can change very quickly. An injury to a CB now and we will be short and say Eriksen was out a while there's a perfect replacement in Pritchard. We have been very lucky with injuries so far but you don't sell back up players and being in no one when you have a real chance to make history and win the league

There is no doubt we have been riding our luck with Kane and his form and fitness.

It's not fair on him either, he has the Euros coming up in the Summer after last Summer u21 debacle.

I understand the management want to get the right guy in but we need to be careful of trying to be too clever.

It's all become clear to me. The reason we've not played or sold Fazio is coz Poch (in which we trust) has been training him since the Summer to play up front (don't question the gaffer look how he transformed Dier into a quaity DM)
Chill out boys, we've got this:whistle:

What I find amusing is that we've had like a year of ITK's, and indeed the man hinting himself, saying that Poch wants to work with a smaller, more versatile squad. It's fairly clear that he isn't a big believer in rotating and having an extremely large squad (which may upset the many on here who think you need 35 man squads let alone 25), and also that unless we can get a top target for the right price then he's more than happy to work with what he's got (in fact this is maybe when he's at his best) and develop those under his tutelage. See Levy's anecdote about their discussions in the summer about defensive midfielders and how Poch told him that he saw potential in Dier, for example.

I swear some people just ignore the evidence, both what is said on here, in the media, from the manager, and how we see him and the team operate.

Son will do well there, but he's mailing down a place on the right Fwrd position, so if something happened to Kane you have to move him and put someone in Sons place, you then have no striker at all on the bench. 75 mins needing a goal you don't actually have anyone to bring on. God forbid Kane AND Son ever have an injury at the same time

We have plenty of players that can cover for Eriksen. We also have cover for CB. Stop trying to make out we're in some desperate situation.

We aren't now, but we may be if we get injuries. We are going for the title ffs, we won't come out the window stronger will we

So what your saying is if a team has their star striker and their best back-up injured they are in big trouble? How is that not true for every club in Europe?

It's amazing to me that people can conveniently ignore the fact that Kane is going to be a burnt out husk unless he gets some respite.

I must admit I find it hard to believe there isn't a player out there that fits the requirements of what we are looking for. We should be able to rest Kane against the likes of Colchester and it's disappointing we can't. I think generally we have a good squad but the lack of back up is a weakness.

Not just that but Kane played his best when he had to fight Ade and Soldado for a start. We could do with keeping him on his toes a little.

He's not a back up striker is he. He's playing in the first 11. A back up striker sits on the bench and plays when Kane is injured. Not one that can play there if needed

He hasn't held down a starting spot in the first 11 yet. It's mostly been Lamela.

No because he's been coming back from injury. Right now he's in the starting X1. Don't play him and stick him on the bench as Kanes back up and we will have cover for Kane

Kane played against Colchester because nobody in the club thinks he needs a rest. If there was any thinking Kane needs a rest he would have been rested like he already has been this season numerous times. We have won 3 out of the 4 games he has been rested as well and have scored plenty of goals.

It's accumlative though isn't it? He may not need a rest how but he may by the end of our busy Feb, except then the games might be more important and harder to rest him for.
