I think this Vertonghen deal is off taking too long
I know, I have said previously he should back him or sack him, and do it fast.
I have also said that if we are going to be in limbo nfor a year, I think we would be as well making the change now, and that is not anti-'Arry, or wanting 'Arry out, it is recognising that the situation can lead to stagnation.
The clue, really was "if I were Levy and I were going to keep him", because, if I were Levy, I would be thinking that the guy is 65, has had heart problems, and he hasn't got CL football next season (which I, personally, would say he had won the right to compete in), and I just would't feel comfortable offering the guy a new ontract. If I had everything in place for him leaving (as everyone thought the England job was his), I would go ahead and do it. Levy is usually quite decisive and totally ruthless...and TBH I am surprised he didn't end the relationship and just go for Rodgers, if that was what he wanted, and I think Liverpool going back in for him caught Levy on the hop a bit.
Taken out of context - which it definitely is - it is merely a plaintive cry for the location of the "missing" defender. You're still asking why is he a member of his own family, rather than why isn't he at Spurs signing a contract.
This could not be further from the truth
Good positive vibes there. But yes, if this the time it takes for a player practically gagging to join to sign, it's going to be an exhausting summer, even by usual standards.I think this Vertonghen deal is off taking too long

I wonder if the reason its so quiet is that all the ITKs/contacts are in the meeting with Levy & Harry?
Just huddled in the wardrobe, praying nobody farts or jockeying for position outside the door, their sweaty red ears pressed against it.I wonder if the reason its so quiet is that all the ITKs/contacts are in the meeting with Levy & Harry?
Amazing really. 3 months ago if we offered him massive money and a new contract he wouldn't have signed. Now it's all changed. I really don't know what I want to happen. Harry has been good for us, but he would have left us in a heartbeat.
This of course brings in to play the slight risk that he has a stormer in front of all of the Premier League's watching managers/scouts - not that they won't know about him already - and another club steams in, prepared to pay exactly what Ajax are asking up front, with no mucking about, and offer Vertonghen a hefty wage and signing on fee, thus blowing us out of the water and leaving it to Vertonghen's goodwill to demand to be allowed to join us instead.Could be they wanted him to come through the England vs Belgium game unscathed first?! medical set for afterwards maybe? That way if he had a bad injury we won't have signed someone we can't use?!
Just a guess, kinda makes sense.
