Strange thing for Pav to say, it worries me he is not hungry enough to push himself into the starting line up. After last years efforts he wouldn't have to push too hard but what if we sign a couple of forwards with drive and hunger? Surely competition for places still benefits them?

I don't think he necessarily meant it in that way, but then again Pav is pretty laid back so you never know.

My take on it was that he knows the game nowadays is about the squad and that he doesn't expect to be starting every game. That said though he doesn't want to be ignored, and if he has played well he will be expecting to be playing again the next game.

Nah Balls to our current strikers, none of them are good enough keane and defoe for
obv. reasons, as a poster above pointed out Pav doesn't have the hunger or the ability IMO
Really dont get the Pav-love, and crouch is woeful, the only reason he set a few up for VdV is more down to luck than judgement.

I think we will end up keeping Crouch and Pav.

Crouch is a useful option to have, though I wouldn't start with him as much as we have done in the past, and Pav has already said that he is happy to stay and that he doesn't mind not starting every game, as long as he is getting some game time.

Keane needs a fresh start elsewhere and Defoe can go and have one of his purple patches elsewhere, as we really need a main striker who can be relied on more.

But, firstly, as I said above, that would mean you wold have to imaginepretty high level strikers coming in knowing one of them probably wouldn't be starting. And also, secondly, if we are classing VDV as a striker, would that mean selling all of our strikers, as with two new, plus Leandro, that would make 4 strikers, and I can't see us having any more than that in the 25.

I'm not saying it won't happen, just personally concerned at the idea of replacing all of our strikers in one window.

Eek Is that something rude?

I'm sure the new striker is signing a contract as we speak :shifty:

But why not SP, what good could any of our current 4 do next year.

I wish i could see it, but they offer nothing.

4 or 3 new strikers for me please.

But maybe only maybe keep crouch to play europa away games.

As Keane was not really used last season we effectively only had 3 strikers + vdV anyway. So selling him and one of the others would mean that we could only bring in one other that would be thought of as a starting player.

Leandro, if we sign him, would be allowed to show what he has about him through sub appearances or in cup competitions.

Wouldn't surprise me to see our strike force next season as Crouch, Pav, NewStriker and Leandro.

Then you missing the point I am making.
It is not about any vurtues any of our current strikers have.
It is about issues of continuity involved with replacing an entire frontline in one transfer window.
I would just be wary of doing it.

And it is also about buying two high level forwards who would be expecting to play every game, the same as VDV would.

These are the two related issues involved in selling all of our strikers now, and replacing them in the way that some want it to happen.

Don't get me wrong, if Dan Levy announces the sale of all of our strikers and the purchase of Rossi, Falcao and Leandro (for exanple), I will be quite excited. But I would also be :pray:that at least one of them hit the ground running, and/or that Redknapp (sic.) finds a formation to accomodate all of them without the problems I have already highlighted.

I notice Levy has gone to the government asking for cash for the new stadium. He does have a great knack of turning everyone against us

No it does have something to do with last week's ITK.
