Wasn't their ITK this morning that the Vlahovic price has doubled since we started talking and we were prepared to pay around 50mil but now at 90mil it's a little bit ridiculous? So now we're still gonna get a striker but a different one that isn't valued at such a stupidly high price?

oh, if that’s the case I’ve missed that - worries me though that it’ll be another Vinicius type stop gap.

I don’t know why the people who know how our transfer windows always turn out are in this thread other than to say “I told you so” as much as possible.

including a bunch of grown men acting like a child throwing his toys when his dad didn't buy the Christmas present he wants

why do people need to say this? I’ve seen people disappointed and rightly so, but I’ve not seen any posts that have been so categorically jump of a ledge! We’re all spurs, we’re all disappointed that the window isn’t going eh way we thought, you can understand it though! As we generally get the same positive news beginning of the window, then it all goes to shit!

Yeah, having to wade through moaning post after moaning post, almost makes me yearn for the tougher moderated version of this thread.

There's usually a 'dissection' thread at the end of every window, so it would be nice for people to keep their negativity for that.

Edit. I do appreciate that this post can also be seen as a bit "moany"! ?

Yep it's getting tiresome to read the same negativity day in day out. I do think so want us to fail some they can bring out those four words.

The window isn’t even open yet
The players are all on holiday/at some tournament
It’s only July
There’s still 3 weeks to go
Still 11 days to go
The last week is where all the deals will happen
Deadline Day will be big for us
The manager was happy with the squad

It’s the same thing. Every. Single. Year
Except that it isn’t. Just because you want it to be, doesn’t make it the actual truth.

Every single window is different - but what wildly different things do you expect? We sign loads of people early? We sign loads late? We sign none? We sign a few? That describes a few of the last 7 or so years. So how exactly are they all the same?

The only things that are the same are people getting worked up about things that may or may not come to pass when there’s still an opportunity for them to happen. Rather than just waiting for the deadline to pass before passing judgment.

I do feel that with things going cold on Vlahovic and Martinez it's because Kane is now staying. I always feel it was to be 1 of those 2 if we sold him. Personally prefer to keep Kane.

Herc updated this morning with what he knows/feels about things. From Kane to Strikers to Defenders.

General gist is still a couple coming in but does feel a little underwhelming compared to what it seemed a couple of weeks/months ago.

I haven’t expected anything from ENIC in terms of ambition for years now. I don’t expect any ‘presents’ of any note, I just get frustrated by the notion that this is magically going to change in the last week of the window.

If ENIC had truly decided to change their ways we would have seen it already.

That said, if people want to have hope, they should do so. Apologies if my post shat on that in some way

So he hasn't signed a new contract? Not that I'm saying we're signing him, but I thought they were having talks about a new contract.
Yeah they’re having talks about a new contract, only started few days ago

You would see nothing. Everything we are hearing saying that Levy is not dealing with transfers (except Kane). That for a start is completely different from previous years.

The deals we have done have been creative and in some cases completely leftfield.

Where we have been able to go early we have. And where the value lies in waiting, only a fool goes early. I don’t read it as a sign we’ve got no cash, more that we can make that cash go further than if we deal now. Not an awful lot of business so far except for Villa selling Grealish and spending it all (like we did with the Baler).

I find posts like weird considering we signed plenty of first team players the previous two summers before this.

Yep, I’m obviously exaggerating to make a point. That’s fair, and I don’t expect everyone on this site to agree with that point. Looks like a fair few do though.

Levy dealing with Kane is Levy dealing with transfers.

With regard to traore (sp?) I don’t believe he will grow as a player any more than he has. I want players who will grow with us as a team. So for me it’s a pass.

I always enjoy reading the transfer window post mortem thread. It seems to be 11 days early this year though.
