i think JJ was being a smart ass and saying levy wouldn't want someone as specifically a DOF, as he later went on to rate "agree" on a post that said that it wouldn't be the DOF title but something similar, basically having the same responsibilities as a DOF would

idk maybe im looking into it too much

Yeh this.

DoF is a made up title anyway in the PL as different DoF's have different levels of responsibility.

What Levy almost certainly won't do based on track record is give free reign on spending and club negotiations to a DoF. You could say then that any reputed DoF that might want to come in wouldn't be working on a standard(ish) European DoF style basis.

Hence i think why the term 'technical director' or some such was banded about.

I think it's clear to see that we need someone at the club who is involved off the pitch in footballing affairs, especially as Levy is more useful dealing with the day to day business side of the game.

Edmonton over on COYS has said to me several times, and posted a couple of times, that Sherwood is not that highly rated by members of the board.

However, that was always in relation to the manager post.

DOF? I guess a different set of skills needed plus a scouting network, good contacts and the ability to work with the manager at the time. Does Sherwood have all that?

Maybe, maybe not. From a cynical viewpoint i would say that Sherwood will be a bit of a yes man to Levy in a technical director style role, at least for the first couple of years, and thus this combined with ensuring some continuity at the club makes his appointment in this role a good thing.

what ITK said that?

JJ has said from the outset that there was no way it would be Moyes

In fact i believe JJ said that there was more chance A&C would allow Adiepf to return than Moyes becoming manager. Now... Adiepf was adamant that AVB would be in charge monday before last... so, was JJ deliberately making the connection that AVB was therefore likely and that as a result Adiepf would be allowed back?

If we examine this further, more chance does not mean great chance... so maybe that means that someone is preferred to AVB?

Is this ITK within ITK within ITK? ITKCEPTION?!

...Have we signed anyone yet?

We don't know the timings of these things though do we. It could be that JJ said this knowing that we'd approached Moyes and he had turned the role down - this JJ and AtlantaYid both being correct.

Perhaps i'm readinf too much into things, but am I the only one doubting wether we are getting AVB? Yes I know all of the ITKS are coming out and saying that we are, Even Paul Smith has said so, and he doesn't just say any old thing for the sake of it.

But reading through the ITK thread this mornig from last night, there was that throwaway jokey comment from JJ, saying that he was in Fiji and Moyes and AVB were in his living room with a DOF. Now from previous posts, we know 2 of those aren't happening, and I doubt he is in Fiji, so was he trying to say that AVB is not happening aswell, by putting his name in that post?

As I say, I'm probably reading too much into stuff, and I certainly don't want to go against a wave of ITK, but is he that nailed on?

Poor Spursking, he's sure getting a lot of stick around here..

As for actual ITK, Corluka to Russia I guess means the offloading has started - which is bloody good and about bloody time. But then again in terms of getting rid Kranjcar and Corluka should be the easy ones; good players both of them and also bit of of a shame to see them go. Progress, I guess...

Agree, although frankly as long as we're trimming down the squad with surplus players i don't mind who too much.If we end up being stuck with Bentley and Jenas come 1st September then it won't be the worst thing in the world as they can both be loaned out again easily enough.

I believe there is a sense of relief around the board today in the knowledge that its looking more likely that AVB will be our next manager. Many may not be happy with the appointment but the relief that something is done prior to pre-season. If it is AVB lets get behind him.(y)

I still believe that Blanc is the man...France display yesterday could be due to the rumour of Blanc and THFC. They did not want to play Spain! Something is going on within the camp (ITK)

Once again, I knew some top people at CFC, they have said AVB was a first class disaster.
He was very arrogant, can be very childish and moans and groans.
The players did not get on with him.
British players will not appreciate him at all.
If we get him, I will be very surprised and we all have to brace ourselves for some moans and groans.

Until it has been confirmed that THFC has appointed AVB, I still hold hopes from my source that it's Blanc.
Others have said: Rafa Benitez but lets no go there...

Whatever and whoever the THFC boards finalize - it will either increase/decrease our influence, stature and position.
With the players we have, we should challenge top 3.
All the big clubs are strengthening, it will be more competitive next season.
It is probably a make or break for THFC (IMO).

Yes that is very sound advice. Man... you really are ITK! ;)

Cheers btw for all your info and comments JJ and well done on ignoring the spanish inquisition-esque clamour for more!

I'm pretty sure those that don't want AVB are the same ones that didn't want Harry to go. It's change that's needed IMO, but some people prefer to keep things trundling along the way they are ;)

Either way i hope this gets sorted this week - it's starting to turn into the next Vertonghnen in the way it's dragging.
