JJ liked my post last night about it being technical director so it will be a similar role to a dof but branded differently I guess

Thanks A&C, concise as always!

So is it just a matter of when AVB is announced?

Certainly does appear that way. I'm somewhat underwhelmed by AVB, but at least it's a rather bold choice and I guess there are a few young stars around that would fancy working with him. Rather him than Moyes, though he'd be under immense pressure from the start so if the going gets tough we might be in trouble.

For me a director a football should buy the type of players the coach wants in his side.
He should not just be as Comolli was, buying players in any position with an eye simply on resale value= 25 right backs and no left winger

Both AVB's previous assistants, Pereira and Di Matteo, have managerial jobs now, so he wont be re-assembling a previous team. I think Wilkins would be ideal.
I seem to remember Butch was very well regarded at Chelsea and not only was there outcry when he was fired, but their performance dipped as well.

To counter that tho, you have to wonder why he hasn't got a coaching job since...

It makes a lot of sense. Sherwood would be an ideal candidate because he already knows the players well at our club, I'm sure he knows his way around the new training centre and he is supposedly an astute coach who likes players who can play, so I expect he'll fit in with the ideas of whichever young coach we get.

Sherwood as technical director makes sense, Sherwood as DoF would be a joke.

Well Dan, I've yet to comment on your posts... but I've been here a week now and feel perhaps I can do so without rocking the boat too much. Let's just get this right: you think that Ray Wilkins, the man who said AVB will be a disaster; on talksport yesterday, is the right man to be number 2?

I don't understand. if this wasn't the itk thread I'd ask you to elaborate. As it is, I'll just say you're off your rocker Corluka leaving? Oh no!

If he came here you can be sure we won't be diving into any tackles...

JJ said a few days ago that we already have two people who act as DOFs at the club anyway, just without the job title

Similar role but without responsbility for transfers I'd imagine.

Maybe a structure like this:

-----------------Levy
-------------------I
---------------Manager
-------------------I
Broomfield---Wilkins----Sherwood
-----I---------------------------I
-Scouts-------------------McDermott
---------------------------------I
---------------------------Inglethorpe + youth coaches

Poor Spursking, he's sure getting a lot of stick around here..

As for actual ITK, Corluka to Russia I guess means the offloading has started - which is bloody good and about bloody time. But then again in terms of getting rid Kranjcar and Corluka should be the easy ones; good players both of them and also bit of of a shame to see them go. Progress, I guess...

Morning SM

I agreed with DA about Wilkins (didn't know about the interview yesterday).

Did he say why AVB would be a disaster?
