TBH I always feel sad when we leave a good player to rot. Siggy, for whatever reason, just doesn't work with us. Happy for him to go and hope he does great....... Just not against us!

Oh, definitely. He deserves consistent playing time and it doesn't seem like he'd get that with us. I just really like him, so I'd be sad to see him go haha.

The one thing I'm a little puzzled about.....we dont seem to be getting linked with any CB's apart from Lovren who's clearly on his way to Liverpool.

Has there been any ITK or links that I've missed that suggest who we might be looking at? Surely we need a new centre half.

There were links to a young German CB that went to WC but didn't play. Not sure if it was ITK or if the ITK just tied in with it though.

Edit: His name is Mattias Ginter

There's been links to various CB's but recently more younger ones Ginter, Lascelles and Dier and Ginter has already moved now
We may well be sounding out options, I imagine Lovren would have been Poch's preferred choice and maybe Moreno his second choice, so given Lovren looks off to the scouse and Moreno has a broken leg it looks like we are sounding out other options, but at least there's still a number of decent options that look gettable

Davies seems done, wouldn't be surprised to see it completed today. The interesting thing to look out for is whether or not we bring Vorm in and send Siggy their way. Vorm is a good keeper, especially as a backup, but I would personally be sad to see Siggy leave. He is a good player and seems to want to fight for a place in the side, which is something that I can always respect.

Siggy is a decent player and I'm sure he will do well in another PL team. We have a lot of this standard players in our squad, who are decent PL players but we are looking to step up to the next level and we need better players to do this.

jj still positive on Schneiderlin when i last checked, would love this player. But wasn't there previous itk on scbc only selling one more player? Sure i remember this, if lovren is off to dippers then as well as missing out on a cb surely we could miss out on Morgan? Get your finger out Mr Daniel Levy!

With all due respect to that particular snippet of ITK, I would certainly question it to say the least. They'll have valuations for both players and if they're met they'll be leaving, simple. Its not like Southampton have little time to get replacements in.

Its within nobody interests to keep a player who doesn't want to stay. A Club will only do that if the bids are nowhere near their valuation.

Those are the kind of players you need to have in the squad if you want to compete though. You need a deep squad to compete in this league and Sigurdsson is the kind of player that fits that role. He can compete for a starting role, but he also consistent and can be used in different positions. He also seems like he wants to stay, or at least seems hesitant to move to a smaller side.

It isn't always easy, because everybody wants to start, but you need players on the bench who are capable of challenging for spots and are ready to start in case of injury.

Yep there's no doubt that Saints would have had to have been prepared to lose their 5 best players - Lambert, Lallana, Lovren, Scneiderlin and possibly Rodriguez.

Funny thing is, it's arguably because of Poch that all of them have become the players that they have and got these big moves as a result. It's nice to know that's the case and that he can arguably do the same for some of our under achievers.

It also supports the notion that Morgan will choose us over Arsenal as is being reported. Really hoping that one happens.

As you say, we have built up a good squad of players which is why we are in the position we are now. I just feel that to get to the next level, we need better players. You can't see Siggy pushing for a place in any other top 4 or 5 team. Although he has his attributes, IMO if he is in the team, we are weaker.

We still have too many, "do a job" level premiership players and a lack of match winners. Compare us, to say Arsenal, who for the time being are perennially 3rd-4th in the league, the level we are looking to get to. Their midfield five are pretty much all potential match winners, whereas for us I would only put Eriksen in that class. There is no point having 10 above average midfielders, you are better of with 6, 3-4 of which can turn a game on their day. This also allows room for the development of youth players, who can be sold to smaller clubs for decent money if they don't quite make the grade.

I like Siggy. Top attitude and has goals in him, but I do think this notion that he could fill multiple roles is completely unfounded. He did his best but was often anonymous when played out of position. In the 10 role he was clever and sometimes effective, but other than that I don't think he gave us much at all.

Very harsh I must say. Davies is absolute quality, and it means you obviously don't know much about him, and Vorm is. Top keeper (what a back up). With 3 at least to follow is happy days (media main names) I am very optimistic. We cannot attract players the T4 can so we have to be realistic.

So Davies, Vorm, Schneiderlin, Depay, Destro?

Can't see a depay/destro happening, but those are the media's "main names", unless I'm forgetting someone.

EDIT: Or Bony.
