For the cryptic this is my guess:

Rin = former Japanese monetary unit
Player = Daichi Kamada
(Two i’s were kept yesterday to reference the two i’s in Daichi)

Japanese attacking midfielder who looked brilliant when I caught him last season in Frankfurt’s Europa run. Could also explain us cooling (at least in the press) on Eriksen and we know that we have had a heavy scouting presence at Frankfurt’s games. He’s also out of contract at the end of next season, which ties with our mantra for a lot of signings. Gotze was announced yesterday as a possible replacement. Not been in the press much which could explain it being a cryptic.

Do I have it??

I suggested this in yesterday’s ITK thread as there was another cryptic besides the 2 I’s that pointed me to him but the RIN is a great addition. @YB123 also added some interesting links about how we looking to sign him previously and is in the last year of his contact

@What Lies Beneath with some Raphinha ITK in the player thread
Yeah, that tracks. It makes sense - only thing that makes me suspicious is that it’s pretty much exactly the news I’d need to counter any optimism from Woolwich.

I can’t decide who I’d prefer, but probably the best-case scenario is we get Richarlison, Barca get Raphinha and Jesus decides to stay.

RIN
These are the missing letters. The letters have gone/go
= Ringo
Eriksen was one of the Beatles who we replaced Elvis with.
Something in that?

I don’t think you’re right but the replacing elvis with the Beatles was a phrase coined by Garth Crooks and who came up with the cryptic ….welcome to the twilight zone

Along similar lines...

R,I and N are missing / hiding - so we SEEK RIN.

SEEKRIN is a pretty simple anagram to solve...

Then there's "Tie A Yellow Ribbon", which has the lines "I'm comin' home" and "It's been three long years, do you still want me?"

I guess the Police song is the Sting = Bees connection?

Either way, Eriksen coming home seems the best fit for all the clues IMHO.

Re the Cryptic. To add to the Eriksen theme and the song: Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree:
- Yellow ribbon round a tree is the symbol of missing loved ones, which fully fits with Erisken.
- Also Oaktree Capital are the main funders of Inter Milan and sit on the board. The bow suggests a gift: Eriksen left on a free an absolute gift of £16.9m to Inter Milan 3 (ok 2.5) years ago.
- The lyrics, as others have said, about a prisoner coming home after 3 years and not being sure if his Mrs still loves him, but he gets home and there are 100 ribbons!
Eriksen has said "yes" and more importantly, so have we!

So, a Ringo joke is fine but a RINO one isn't. Don't know which mod deleted my post but either he has no sense of humour, or he's a Republican. However, the two are not mutually exclusive.
