Dealing with Southampton is going to be a problem. Koeman is leaving and them turning around and selling Wanyama for a cut rate fee to us is going to be a PR nightmare for them with their supporters. They already have Mane, who is their most dynamic player, with one foot out the door, but at least they'll get 25+ million for him from Liverpool or United. We are going to have to pay more than 15 million pounds to sign Wanyama before the season starts, I suspect.

Let's not forget Dembele will miss the first four games of the season, so we can't afford to wait to get a transfer like this done in August, which I worry is when Southampton will look to sell based on finding a new manager and scouting and signing a replacement player.

Wanyama is an absolute Beast. We need beasts in our midfield. A player that runs non stop shutting down play and keeping things moving. His a very strong player that will most definitely do a job. I trust Poch and I trust that this signing will be a very shrewd one indeed (if it happens).

Imagine playing against Dembele Dier and Waynama .. HA good luck to the puppies this season :joyful:

Won't play Dier and Wanyama together so he is not Dembeles replacement. We still need another in for that

Wouldn't be adverse to him, Poch clearly likes him so that is good enough for me.

Would love to see him and Bazoer come in, think they would be an almost perfect switch-out for Dembele and Dier. Think Dier, despite his age, will help Wanyama discipline himself more, and Bazoer could learn so much off Dembele.

Is asking for Wanyama, Bazoer, Embolo and Jansen (maybe with a cheapish CB) too much to ask?? If they say £11m for Wanyama, probably £10m-£12m for Jansen, similar for Bazoer and say £18m-£20m for Embolo? That's roughly a £50m-£55m expenditure...

Then say hypothetically we receive around £10m for Mason, £5m for Carrol, £4m for Faz, £4m-£5m for Yedlin, already that's like £25m in outgoings? Taking into consideration that other people such as Pritchard MAY be sold?? I think a £25m-£30m Net Spend is quite possible due to the money we received for CL qualification, along with TV money etc...thinking as well that everyone else will be strengthening?

Just my thoughts, think this summer is massive for us personally..

if we sign Wanyama we wont have to sign another central defender as Dier dropping back to cover for Toby becomes an option. Win-win.

Playing against those 3 in midfield would be akin to putting up hadrians Wall love it.

semi agree. although from what we've seen with the transformation of Walker et al. I believe a 24 Wanyama could improve to become a decent combatant with Dier. Also depending on price could turn out to be positive bit of business
Kinda disagree, Poch has worked with him, will help Dier get some rest .. Also may save us on a RCB with Dier dropping in should Toby be injured or requiring rest ..
Could also be useful playing two DB's with perhaps Eriksen playing in front and being a new Modric for us ?

If Wanyama happens, Dier is no shoe in.
Will have to battle for the shirt, which is a good thing all round.

Bentaleb will be more as a playmaking midfielder he definitely has the talent and footballing brain to be so
In what way is that optimistic because he was injured ?or because of that pass against man utd? As a player who was only 19 he's passing and vision is impressive maybe sometimes could have been a bit to ambitious or not play the best of passes that is because of he's age I would have liked to seen Carrick at that age or someone like matic because I doubt they were better than him at that age or had shown any better promise than him

Look forward to signing Wanyama just to spite Southampton fans. They were in uproar last season not understanding why Toby would leave them for us as we're not a better team and it's a sideways move... Now it looks to be happening all over again. Wanyama with a sideways move. ;)

He gets sent off at least 3 times a season, a ticking time bomb, good player but we can't afford to go down to 10 men in games

Then tell him to get sent off in friendly games and after the third time we are safe.
