I don't think it helps playing for a team that was nearly relegated! Can you imagine Adebayor at Villa!? He's bad enough at a top 4-5 club. I think benteke would be a sensation with the service our team would provide him.

Tbh, Villa probably have a similar service to us....we are not exactly providing great service...yes we have poor strikers but actually how many times do we cross a ball? Not very often. We dilly and dally with it in the middle trying to find a way through 90% of the time.

You say dilly dally! Stats say 66 league goals this season which is out highest amount in 20 years and level with what we scored last season. You honestly think Villa are equal to us in-terms of service!?

In Spain not many teams will even attempt crosses, certainly not Barca (who see a cross as a player running out of ideas)

Old fashioned wing play is dead, football has evolved, let the brainless fullbacks cross aimlessly if they must. The last truly great crosser of the ball was Beckham and they were more like curled passes.

Getting by a man and whipping a ball in is now (thankfully) the domain of the Allardyce's and Pulis' of the football world.
Pass and movement; it's the future...

I believe it depends on the player and not on the size of the club. It will always be a gamble. Benteke could easily improve with us, or the other way round like Bent. You have to consider the style of play and the pressure. I'm not sure he fits our style of play tbh.

*it's not really creating, it's a percentage/hopeful pass.

I personally shudder at the thought of football with a LW on the left a RW on the right and running up and down the wing, to me it's not football that's winning games then it's one man beating another man, and in that instance, that one man is all you need to nullify to stop that team.

Don't get me wrong Benteke has performed very well this season, but lets not forget he was a complete donkey against us in both games
