As fun as this summer will be, Bale signing a new contract is infinitely better than any signing we could possibly make.

If Bale stays and we bring in one top striker and one creative midfielder, I reckon we can challenge for the title. Just imagine when we get Sandro and Kaboul back...

Whilst we are talking about pass and move - my favourite goal of the season (not Spurs related) was Weimann's goal against Liverpool. The interplay between him and Benteke was unbelievably good. Real football IMO, a goal/move of the absolute highest quality. The final part of the move, the back flick from Benteke to tee up Weimann was a thing of beauty - the awareness, the execution of it, all after the superb build up to the goal between the two of them.

Anybody doubting Benteke's qualities could do with watching the movement and link up between the two of them in that game. Benteke's solo effort for the his own goal was superb to.

Benteke is not just a lump to whip in a cross to, far from it. His all round game is excellent and will only get better IMO.

Knowing our luck we would sign the CF and CMF then they both get injured in the opening game.

It's funny how being a Spurs fan can often lead to pessimism. When I first read this SK, I was about to call you a loon. My Gooner mate the order day even suggested that us and Arsenal could be fighting for the title next year if both clubs actually fulfill their transfer market dreams. I did actually call him a loon, but the more I think about it, the more I think that it could be a possibility.

If the planets align and we get the signings we need to complete AVB's vision we could be a serious contender. United could have teething problems with Moyes, City could also enter a "transition period" with Pellegrini, and hopefully Arsenal will stick by Wenger and continue to be pretty stagnant by their standards.

Of course, this is all a big if, knowing us I doubt it'll end up that way. (Aaaaaand there's pessimism kicking back in!)

It's funny how over thinking the "potential signings" can often lead to SC members thinking that next season might be the season... :D

Yep, his awareness of the players and space around him is very good. His really nice long range goal against West Brom (I think) shows that; it was the one where he received it back to goal, feinted one way, went the other and smashed it in from 25-30yrds. A striker who can create his own goals is always valuable, and Benteke certainly does this.

From what I saw of him earlier in the season, he seemed to be offside a lot and seemed to lack the cutting edge to make it to the very top, but he's been very clinical since the turn of the year (apparently only Messi and Ronaldo have scored more in Europe and he doesn't seem to miss many now). The offside thing can be coached out of him as he's young and not the wrong side of 30 like our constantly offside duo.

Why stop the habit of a lifetime? This is what we live for really. Fuck the league, the transfer window is where the real action is at!

We will always imagine this though - its what keeps us hooked. The planets align and our wee team just smashes the fuck out of the everybody with our brand new signings making all the difference :)

Gets me through most nights - either that or the liquor :D

If Dortmund can do it, why can't we?

Exactly, and I think this is the attitude AVB is establishing at the club. This has to be the summer where Levy backs AVB as much as he can, otherwise I'm not sure it will ever happen.
