Fantastic info Mr Fox.

Little bit concerning about Eriksen, but not so immediate and a new contract should leave us in a decent negotiating position.

As for the special player, I just for the life of me can't see us pulling off a big deal in this time frame, however the optimist in me does see the outgoings starting to come together and thinks there might be a small chance!

What an update from @Grey Fox

All that matters is this season. If Eriksen signs the deal & commits to the cause, I have no qualms. If we exceeed expectation this season, You may never know, Eriksen might be willing to stay...Even if he doesnt stay , he is not unreplacable.

"Special player who will surprise" - I wonder , if its someone from PL itself, especially someone from our rival team(s).

Great post by @Grey Fox

The Eriksen stuff to me makes it sound like the delay on the contract signing for the last few months has been because he's been looking to insert a clause/buy out/dreaded gentlemen's agreement that he can leave quite soon. Disappointing but not unexpected.

If there is such a clause, atleast he will try the hardest this season.

Just thinking aloud about big name AMs that are realistically possible...

James Rodriguez
Marek Hamsik
Arda Turan
Lucas Moura
Arjen Robben
Franck Ribery
Lorenzo Insigne
Javier Pastore
Nabil Fekir
Shinji Kagawa
Iker Muniain
Bernardo Silva
Rodrigo
Balde Keita
Rafinha

There are plenty of reasons why various players on that list may not be possible, I'm just mentioning big players that are either at bigger clubs but not playing regularly, or are at clubs they could be lured away from. Rodriguez and Turan are definitely available but would probably be outside our wage bracket. Arguably a few at the bottom end of the list would not really qualify as big names. Others don't fit our usual age bracket for signings. But someone like Rodriguez or Fekir could be a potential game changer for us.

Sorry but did anyone else laugh at the naming rights bit. We could make an announcement within 12 month! I won't be holding my breath then.

Ham-es would be insane but will also never happen. He'd be the perfect young superstar for this team though.

Surprised you missed out Isco! But it's probably best this convo ends here.

Levy never does clauses in the players favour.

Levy has been quite innovative/creative when it has come to sponsorship. He had one sponsor for Cups and another for PL not long ago. Personally, I'd like to see him try to break it up for the sponsorship of the stadium / shirts etc. Arsenal IMO have quite a poor deal. I appreciate they got the cash upfront during their first agreement with Emirates but even when they renegotiated recently, they are still well below market value given it's 30m a year for both shirt and stadia. One key aspect will be not to get tied in for too long. Market for sponsorship/tv deals seems to be rising so I hope we don't get a 10 year deal that locks us in.

Also if we are selling the club, I'd like to see us keep Levy on as chairman. Better the devil you know and perhaps with bigger investment, he would be less tight on transfer fees but equally hard nosed on sales.

It sounds like we've already been working on it though, we aren't going to be working from scratch.

You would assume so, but for it to go so long without any kind of link, and the wording of 'Poch has something in mind' suggests otherwise to me. More like when we enquired about VDV, walked away and then got offered him again. Not sure we are lucky enough for lightning to strike twice...

It doesn't sound like that to me. It sounds like Poch has identified the particular player he wants and it's being worked on.

I've gone back through GF ITK and concede he does mention it being worked on, which is good but also says that a lot of 'dust needs to settle once the big clubs get moving' and seems a few things have to fall in to place for this to happen, so I still think its unlikely.

Hell I'm not even confident N'Koudou will get over the line and that was 99% complete weeks ago.

Brilliant info, thanks.

Nice details about sponsorship, we'll need that extra dough.

As for Eriksen, hopefully we can sound out a replacement within that year. He's given us 4 years so its not massively surprising.
