Interesting that AVB says we want Soldado for strength in depth - it suggests that Defoe and Adebayor will both be staying.

He's unlikely to say 'I really want Soldado so I can finally fuck off the other 2 goal shy cocknoshers'. Though that interview would get at least 1 million YouTube viewers in 60 seconds.

2 days ago there was some ITK from HertYid about 2 clubs quoting informal bid for Bale . Now Marca with Bale thing & BBC apparently says Man United quoted too (see Bale thread) and goat bleatint Sanchez now...

I hope that as well as the striker we have been praying for being actually signed and no fucking around, that we will also sign a much needed left back as it looks like AVB does not fancy BAE and I don't think that Danny Rose is good enough in that position.

Lets hope out of all the rumours that we manage to get in the quality striker that a blind person can see we need.

Baldini met Soldado's agent then the Valencia president. Apparently terms with player agreed, and terms with Valencia close. We want to give add ins to make it up to the €30m, they want instalments to guarantee the fee. Valencia guys meeting today to discuss at 12.

That would be way outside our normal spending levels and I just don't see it happening.

Soldado, Paulinho and Chadli would be a pretty good window for me.

Given we are in for a lot of players and the money we are looking to spend is quite high, I believe AVB is playing to his strengths when dealing with Levy.

AVB is known for his analytical reports on every current and target player, these reports will allow Levy to make a pure business desision about cost/risk against the benefit of having the player.

It also allow Levy to feel safer spending money as he has some facts to back it up compared to a hunch or feeling of a manager. (Could be a reason why Harry wasn't backed like this)

I agree. I agree so much that just pressing 'agree' doesn't do it justice.

I hope this isn't the case. It could explain why we're willing to pay nearly €30m for a 28 yr old but hopefully it's just we're trying to build a title winning side.

I just want Soldado secured first, he is exactly what we need, if Bernard goes to the goons then so be it, he is exactly what they don't need, they have so many of that type of player.

Not so, we could be in for them and many more, but how many of those will the players want to come to us, and the club are willing to complete will reduce that list dramatically IMO

IMO they are all we need, we have a good squad already with some great players, these 3 would just top it off! A striker we have needed for many years (since Berbatov left) and 2 midfielders that will add in with goals and create! again something we needed when VDV and Modric left.

With this squad I would really hope we are looking for the title and not just top 4, thought realistically I think top 4 would be acceptable.
