Personally I think we were pretty clear on who we wanted and it was only the unexpected possibility of signing the Madrid player whose name I can't spell (fuck it, i'm calling him "Ian") that threw a spanner into the works and thus created the illusion of indecision. I think it's entirely possible that if Ian decides to go elsewhere, whoever we do get will be someone from that original list.It almost feels like Illeramendi or another Stambouli stop gap. I can't see Southampton allowing us to sign Wanyama at this stage of the window.
Personally, I will be pretty pissed off if we can't get someone in CM to improve the first team as we should have known it was a crucial signing all summer (far more crucial than the Wimmer signing for instance). Having said that, at this stage I'd rather no one than another Stambouli style signing who we'll be trying to flog in a years time.
