Unfortunately last time we tried to deal with Palace we fucked up the deal by offering Zaha very low wages (prem wages). Which is why Zaha immediately signed a new deal at Palace. No excuses this time around. DL pays the money and we get the player or holds back for a cheaper deal and pisses off Poch. Unless there’s another player Poch would prefer over Zaha which I doubt very much.

And I don't think it was just Zaha we rubbed up the wrong way. I seem to recall an interview Steve Parish gave to talkSPORT in 2016 where he blasted us for offering them just £12m for Zaha.

cheers Herc, great insights. Would be thrilled with Zaha, would hate to see him go elsewhere in town.

I'm not panicking in defence, we have options if Toby leaves or rots, but CM? The thought of Wanyama and Sissoko taking the field at St James' fills me with dread.

We should be signing another CM. There's no bloody excuse.

‘Zaha is gettable for many reasons.’

I’m sorry, in that case there’s absolutely no reason to not just bite the bullet and get him in. It doesn’t matter a bollock that some of us on here aren’t fussed. Pochettino loves him, and backing Poch is far more of a priority to me than signing some fancy name that gets me excited.

For the record, I’d be very excited by Zaha. But even if I wasn’t, I’d want us to sign him, as putting significant money into a real Pochettino signing is the right thing to do.

If Poch really wants Zaha that badly then I’m surprised we are even looking at Martial or waiting on a response from this unnamed third. I get why it didn’t happen in the past but at this point, if the price etc is set, then I’m suprised it’s not done and dusted. I guess it’s all financial issues as per. Thanks for the info as ever Herc.

This.

Zaha fits the bill for the teams that stick 11 men behind the ball with his ability to beat someone and fits the bill for when we need to play on the counter as he is fucking fast.

What’s not to like or get excited about?

Some of you lot need to realise we’re not Real Madrid. (Tiger)

Key sentence for me from Herc is that the ball is in our court. I take that to mean we know what the team will sell at and Levy just has to decide whether to pay it. If he doesn't soon, then those teams could move on. No idea if this is correct but that's how I took it.

Sounds like Zaha, Grealish, and one more mystery CM is how the window is shaping up, although Zaha is no certainty. No ideas who other forward option could be beside Pulisic but still don't understand why Dortmund would sell. (edit - forget Pulisic).

Yeah that’s what worries me.

We haven’t had a player with Zaha type trickery since Ginola, I think he’d compliment us incredibly well. Completely different to what we have

Zaha is the direct strength player sissoko was bought to be.hope the itk is correct and we go for him. For all the quality we have we dont have a player like him.

I'd love to have Zaha - he might not have the best end product at times. But he's an entertainer and definitely a player to get bums off seats.

Reminds me of Ginola.

Wonder if Sky’s release has anything to do with Rebrabs ‘watch the media’ from yesterday. Bit unsure on whether I can mention exactly what it is so maybe have a look and make your own minds up...

I don't get how some people aren't even a tiny bit excited at the prospect of signing Zaha. He's such a joyous footballer, beats players for fun, and will provide us with a genuinely different option when we're struggling to break teams down.
Ferguson saw something in him too. He was unfortunate to have him retire. He was left with Moyes and LVG as his managers following his move.

i believe that Zaha will be one of those players that you won't realise how good he is until you see him week in week wearing a Spurs shirt

Thought I would pop back to the 'horse's mouth' for the latest I Take Ketamine news. Good to see that Josh is in MP's plans. I thought he might be kept back as a makeweight in any Grealish deal, as he was on loan there last term.

Very concerned about the TA situation. It's a horrific game of brinkmanship with the cards stacked against us as the PL window closes early this year. And Foyth's new injury doesn't help either.

The English window closing early must put us in a stronger position when selling to another English club though. If they don't pay the fee we want we could easily continue to talk to other foreign clubs once the premier league teams are out of the picture.

Why though? Amongst better players in more space the guy will be deadly. I don't understand why people are so anti Zaha. Literally offers something completely different to what we have. Also I think Pochettino our best manager for decades deserves his chance to sign his favourite player in the AM position. I personally think there are better but if Pochettino wants him then I will give him the benefit of the doubt on this one

He's been one of the best players in the league for the last two seasons. And every team that Palace play know he's their main threat and yet he still manages to put in impressive performances most weeks. Put him in our team and the opposition won't know whether to double up on him, Dele, Eriksen or Harry.

This! As mentioned before he rates Zaha as best winger in the league.

You seem to be really on the ball with this deal. Do you know why we never move early for him? With Poch being such a clear fan you think we would bid big and early. Not towards the end of the window each time when it is harder for them to replace.

If there is a player thread you can mention it in there
