What has anyone seen of David Button? Is it possible he could do a Jo Hart and break into our first team or is the young keeper more likely to be a new purchase?

Agreed. I think it's a serious mistake to replace him, just like I think it's a mistake to get rid of Kranky.

Still a raw talent, did well at Plymouth but I dont see him breaking into the first team on a regular basis until he fully develops. I'm assuming we'll see him go out on loan next season, again.

I'm a big admirer of Friedel but knowing alot of Villa fans and their opinions that he has hit the wall this season im a little unsure of this move - especially on a two year deal.

My hope that if he does arrive, is that we stick our necks out and buy a young keeper with huge potential to push both Friedel and Cudicini for the No1 jersey with Gomes being allowed to leave.

Which would tie into the news about the young 19 year old Belgian keeper that were after.

Not reading too much into the Mail's story regarding Friedel as they've also released a story claiming Utd are to bid "£20m for Tottenham forward Luka Modric"

signing the belgian kid would be the only instance in which signing friedel would make any sense. seasoned to say the least, pro to challenge with young lion cub for number 1 spot, and if you average out the ages 40 = 19 = 59. divide that by two and you get 29.5 and thats about the prime for a keeper. Harry the mathematical genius knows what hes doing
