What JJ is saying is: we're working on it.

Which is everyone's fear, right? That we're not doing anything and watching all these players sign for everyone else? The man says it's not the case, so (with my trusty pinch of salt, and a feel of my averagely sized testicles) we're working on it.

I've taken Deadline Day off (again). I can't wait.
I think the fear is we don't end up with quality fwrd and quality DM. That levy is working on it may not fill everyone with a huge amount of confidence

The itks are not worried. I hope they are right on this one. Levy messes up again during this window and it will be hard to forgive for the fans.

Offset by a much bigger loan fee I'm sure
IIRC the 3 offers for Ade in January had West Ham paying £30k a week, QPR £50k and one other prem team offering £40k.

I'll bet Wet Spam have offered even less now after we mugged them off.

Edit: Palace offered £70k QPR £60k
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...locked-by-Tottenham-chairman-Daniel-Levy.html

West Ham I'm pretty sure offered the least £50k (as a funny poster said somewhere Previously that Newark Council were paying £30k of this!)

I'm not questioning JJ's info, but

i'm not questioning JJ's info but, I am completely questioning JJ's info you mean.

"Berahino currently way too expensive for his talent, you are paying over 20M for potential which is high risk."

So what suddenly changed, other than clear desperation!?!?!?

This sounds like JJ's opinion rather than the clubs. It is possible as I think Tibsy said that he has matured and scored lots more goals between January and now. Also if you believe JJ as I do we went in for Martial which looked the better priced deal. We are now trying to make sure we get plan B.

So we are helping chelsea to get john stones and selling fazio for only 5m ... That's nice gesture levy :)

Where did you pluck 5m from. Bens Post said 95% not 9 - £5m. Before you try and bash the club why not base it on facts.

Would Levy really care?

Would enough fans boycott games out of anger to have an effect?

Unfortunately the answer is no.

Business will carry on like this whether we like it or not.

Ade to West Ham, hmmmmm - so we're talking with them again then?

Now David & David (for Sum's sanity), about the year we want to share your ground....

Business is business I guess. Nose. Face. Cut off.

Edit - maybe the Fazio stuff will be concluded on Saturday? Heard they are quite heavily in for Jonny Evans also though.

Just hope Lamela going isn't true which JJ seems not so adamant on anymore.. Because I bet my bollocks if he went there wouldn't be a direct replacement and that's what we need. (Instead it would be replacing him with Pritchard/Dembele essentially)

I am as big a supporter of lamela as anyone, as I was of Soldado, but no-one can truly believe that him going is going to have a profound effect on how we do? He just does not affect games consistently enough. If he goes then maybe, just maybe N'jie and Pritchard will step up and show the world what they can do. We have already seen what Lamela brings to the table and I for one do not think him going will make us worse off (except financially).... we do not need a direct replacement for him, we need someone who can take on players, who can stretch defences and someone who can create on a regular basis. Unfortunately for us he has not developed into that here. I wish him well but it is time for him to move on.

I am slightly worried that all the early window work could be undone over the next few days. We are clearly working to improve the squad - i say improve but what i really mean is make a squad because right now there are 2/3 major gaps to be filled. Replacing Lamela could be seen as an improvement, bringing in Berahino is filling a gap and I hope we are concerntrating on gap filling right now.

With this said, doesn't leaving it late play into the sellers hands? We are desparate for signings and most clubs these days are financially secure with the increased TV revenue etc so not as pressured to sell. Perhaps abroad but not in the PL.

Fingers crossed we sort it out but the glass is very much half full at the moment and it could go either way (staying positive :))

Oh I'm sorry, I must have missed the part where JJ has full control over our transfers. Just because his information is accurate when he posts it (and his track record suggests that it is), that's no guarantee that things won't change. Didn't he say at one point that we wouldn't be signing Alderweireld because it was too complicated? As we know, transfers can be hugely complicated (ours more than most, it seems), and lots of things can happen to change their direction, both positive and negative. So, get off your high horse for a second and try to understand that, just because JJ says something is going to happen, that doesn't mean that it necessarily will.

JJs comments obviously breed confidence and the meltdown can potentially be put on hold.

I just can't help feeling concerned around the DM situation though. JJ says things are being worked on and I don't think anyone's naïve enough to believe that they aren't. However the lack of media links with any decent CM worries me, especially with only a week to go. Illaremendi always seemed a tenuous link and looks to have gone back to Sociedad, Wanyama isn't that great and Southampton wouldn't sell us a wet fart right about now and there's no one else really, except this Vogt person I keep seeing people mention. I've never heard of him so he may not exist.

I can't see us being in a position to sign anyone good enough at the moment. Who in their right mind is selling a key player, good enough for us, with a week to go in the transfer window, knowing they are going to need a replacement?

We have also been here before in relation to having a bloated squad that Levy refuses to accept a loss on. Things have changed. We are always subject to (transfer) market forces, and if the market says move now, then we move now. We will not be the only club signing players in the next week.

I hope you're right, I really do.

Begs the question why even read this thread if you're just gonna dismiss the ITK?
Well most of it is incorrect and changeable and we're told we should be taking with a large pinch of salt!

This is the ITK thread, if you don't believe what he's posting why come in here. The point is to discuss the ITK not discredit it straight away. If you think JJ's optimism is miss placed and has no merit, go and post in the is Daniel levy holding the club back thread. Save your pessimism for when JJ actually says no more signings because he does that regularly and doesn't run an optimistic view all the time.

If you want to beat him with the TA stick look at what he actually said. He said not happening at the moment. Would be surprised if it did change as it was complicated. When it did change he said as much.

I see the mood's finally starting to turn in here.

Surprised it took that long and alarm bells weren't ringing for people weeks ago as opposed to last few days.

If Illarra goes to Real Sociedad and/or just doesn't materialise we are suddenly without a realistic quality option... Cue a Stambouli-esque signing.

Think it'll be two in, Berahino (we will panic and cough up way over the odds) and a panic signing in midfield that will be deadwood by next summer.

Just hope Lamela going isn't true which JJ seems not so adamant on anymore.. Because I bet my bollocks if he went there wouldn't be a direct replacement and that's what we need. (Instead it would be replacing him with Pritchard/Dembele essentially)

Would that be a successful window? Far from a disaster if I'm being realistic but nowhere near a success... Just as usual, underwhelming and short of what we need.

The first bit: apologies if I'm misreading, but you appear to be welcoming (completely over the top) panicking? Is that right?

The second bit needs to be qualified with: at the moment; with a week to go. But you know that and are choosing not to post those words, right?

For information, JJ disagreed with this.
