No chance Martial and Berahino.

If we go for the former it's because the latter has been deemed too expensive

I was going to add that about Berahino happening would mean Embolo or Martial would be unlikely/impossible.

Was referring to CM and WF opportunities really, especially if Lamela goes. If Sporting and Leverkusen went out per se that opens up potentially William Carvalho, Slimani, Teo Gutierrez, Kramer, Bender and Son. I'd be stunned if we pulled any of those off but would be happy for us to try...

Just a note to those posters that start a post with 'I'm not knocking ITK but ' and I believe so and so but' . YOU ARE.

As people on here have correctly pointed out there are many issues involved in any transfer, not just money and things can change for many reasons.

However most ITK is a good indication of what the clubs intentions are. A good example is a couple of days ago I posted that we were 98% done with Berahino and then posted yesterday that a 3rd bid would be made. That was apparently because we knew he was going to put in a transfer request and led to believe 20m would be enough. The text I got was minutes after it was announced the 2nd bid had been rejected.
Like most of the other ITKs I pass on stuff in good faith and careful not to include what I suspect is club propaganda.

I only have 2 posters on ignore at the moment but that is likely to increase significantly in the coming days.

I get frustrated as anyone else on here about certain deals but real life is not FIFA 15 and some on here need to realise that

:p:whistle:

Things are obviously changing all the time.

Targets will be change depending on interest in our players, if Lamela is off (which he wasn't a few weeks ago) then we need a replacement. Soldado went, Ade & Lennon and Fazio might be more likely to go now so we have more ££s.

Interesting times.

Without more detail, it is difficult to use the goat ITK to narrow down a target list of players. Teams going out of the CL - does that mean we can now get some of their players, or does it mean that players that those clubs were targeting are now more gettable for us?

Of course it's at the moment, that's why I posted saying what I think the end result would be... Not what it is currently.

I don't care if others panic or not, just every season the same 'don't panic there is still time left' spiel yet 9/10 it comes to nothing. Once bitten, twice shy etc etc.

Surely it's far more reasonable to base your current feelings on the time left, the lack of widespread media links to any players aside from SB and most importantly what history suggests will happen (that being disappointment).

It's far easier to be negatively inclined considering all that than have blind faith based on the 'lessons have been learned' mantra.

I'll happily be proved wrong regarding this last week but can you really tell me you wouldn't be surprised if it's Berahino + a mad dash for a couple of uncontainable targets which inevitably led to a stop gap midfield option being signed?

Based on that (not outrageous prediction) despite that being the two incomings you'd expecting... It would make this window underwhelming on reflection.

It feels different to me. I think people have dived into the Levy narrative, refused to listen when people in the know have said that he's given a harsh ride (that's from the agent side not the Levy side too) and assumed that things are exactly the same as they always are.

But they're not are they? When have we ever had a clear-out like we've had? We've already signed a classy centre half (which was the biggest problem area for me) and we're working on a back-up for Kane. We've added pace to the team with N'Jie and our new messiah scored his first goal at the weekend. I'm actually a bit excited, because the team has got better from last year. On paper you can't tell me that's wrong. We've not lost anyone (that was key or a starter) and we've added young fresh MP-approved talent.

I don't read anything into the media stuff, as I know how it works. A lot of it is awfully made up because it sells. There was a really good vid about how the Sun decided one day to just ... make it all up and sensationalise it all. And thus the transfer rumour mill was born.

The man himself (Levy) said we'd do our business early where possible (see the five players we have signed) and that the market naturally comes to a head at the end of the trading period and activity increases. We're not alone in this, which is why every day you see Arsenal linked with a forward, Chelsea submitting their eighth bid for Stones, Manchester United looking for a striker ...

So you've been given forewarning, why do you expect anything different given our financial position? Just because people do not like change, does not mean we have not changed our internal workings. The noises are from those high up is that we'll be OK. JJ said that as much as yesterday. Grey Fox was confident. Trix says things are progressing.

The ITK side of things has been a lot quieter, so people naturally assume that means nothing is going on rather than "leaks" being plugged and sensitive information remaining just that.

As for your question: I expect Berahino and a good DM. And I'll be well happy with the squad in its lighter, younger, hungrier form.

Kind of strange that we are exploring options again so late in the window. We know all transfers could hit snags and hold ups so would hope the next couple of days would purely be crossing the t's and dotting the I's, not having to go chasing again.

Martial would be great by all accounts if it could be made possible now. I guess let's enjoy the next 5 days eh (unless we get smashed by Everton, in which case MELTDOWN!!!)

Why would Monaco sell Martel if he only just signed a new contract? I know they need money etc but even so, surely if they were even going to consider it they would be looking for mega money. Still, i would much prefer him to Berahino.

They may be desperate for Adebayor.

Not really. Given that some clubs are going out of the Champions League before the end of the window I would imagine that we looked at all of the players and clubs in the qualifiers and put out feelers early in the window. Now we know who is out we can advance those that we want.

Stoof, your optimism is so huge, it leaves a turbulence big enough to bring down Mount Everest.

What's the point of our new scouting team if we are looking at new options last minute?

I'd have thought we'd have gone 'right we have 2-3 huge holes in our squad, let's go and find 1-3 top targets to not only fill this gap but fit into the system'

If we can't find them the Scouts are shit, if we cant afford them they are identifying the wrong targets and if the viable targets have been signed by other clubs then our last minute method has proven to be ineffective.

Edit - this was a shit post, ignore me.

If we end up with neither of the Berahino and DM things by the time the window is shut, I will be as upset as the rest of you. Especially as I will be two testicles down and I was kinda counting on having those. I just refuse to get upset about theoretical things - it's an incredibly (*sexist klaxon*) feminine thing to do.

If there's a greater than 50% chance this will eventually lead to you getting your nuts wet and you're thinking of giving it miss due to Spurs transfer exploits then you need to revaluate your priorities mate.
But the potential to get fucked in both scenarios is possible.

Still, a few more days to judge :)

They might be players who we have identified/enquired about but have been apart of champions league clubs who have been knocked out.
