Bilbao have this unofficial policy where they only sign Basques so Ade....no.

I remember watching a La Liga game of Bilbao's where there was a poll done with bilbao fans, would you rather go down or sign non-Basque players and stay up, something like 80% said go down!

That ITK from Newcastle is the most believable ITK I've read for sometime. It doesn't fill me with confidence though if we are expected to reap back our transfer funds through champions league revenue. That means there will be little if any transfer funds available in the summer. Lack of investment in the squad is what cost us from getting a CL spot last time we were in it, looks like the same could happen again.

If he is considering CL an investment, I could understand it. We made 31.xxx m last time we were in CL.
  • Each team gets a basic fee – 3.9m – for qualifying for the Champions League group stages. In addition, each teams gets a fixed fee per match regardless of the outcome, this fee is revised upwards as the teams enter the knockout competitions.
  • All the clubs are entitled to a minimum €7.2m – a basic participation bonus of €3.9m, plus €3.3m from the six €550,000 match bonuses given per group game.
  • Additionally, performance bonuses are paid in the group stage: sides receive €800,000 for every win and €400,000 for every draw. The 16 clubs that reached the round of 16 are each assigned an additional €3m, the eight quarter-finalists an extra €3.3m, and the four semi-finalists a bonus of €4.2m. The losing finalist receives 5.6m while the winner receives 9m.

If we were to make it into CL again, you will earn 11.1m if you lose all of your matches. An investment of anything around 15m could be seen as paying for itself come next season.

it's clubcall.

Don't know why I read these quotes. Always the same nothing. We like him but we can't get him.

Why does the club spend so much time looking at players that are obviously outside our financial means. Either change the structure of your player budget or target a different player. ffs!
Do they think any of us are still buying this BS?

It's f****** clubcall.

they're lower down the "credible source" list than my last two mince pies.

I still don't think he will be given the funds to invest in the summer though and btw what happened to that 31 million?

We have triple standards actually. ;)

It's all been fairly relaxed in here so far but from January 1st, when the window opens we'll expect people to be more sensible.

I don't mind saying it again, because people are still returning to the SC fold for their fix..........But we're trying a slightly different approach this time around. It'll need people to read The Rules (click here) and after that to help out by doing their bit and following them.

Why didn't somebody say that in the first place instead of making it sound like i had committed the crime of the century.

He was trying to do you a favour mate. You went on the defensive and handed out neg reps, but completely got the wrong end of the stick. A&C continually reminds us to read the rules... It was a friendly gesture!

Can't believe we don't make a move for Ba at 7.5m for guaranteed goals

Its a difficult one, if he has this buy-out clause one would think a club would have triggered it in the summer. Since no club did, it makes me think his knee injury is a serious worry. Its different for Newcastle who got him on a free, risking 7.5m on a player who potentially is one injury away from not playing again is a much bigger gamble. 7.5m might be small in football terms but its a lot of money!

PS. Long time reader of the forum, starting to post a little now in the build up to this window, hello all :)
