Nb- can anyone explain to me what 'moneyball' means?

It's just means buying young players cheaper, whose resell value will raise as they get better(bale,modders),so really looking at players as an investment. The opposite is spending 30m on a superstar player approaching the end of career ,resell value will decrease as the player gets older.

Both GrahamRoberts and BEN posted yesterday that Vertonghen will happen/is done. My opinion: Presumably much like Gylfi in that all will be announced together with the new manager.

Confirmed couple of meetings have happened. Modric wants to come, personal terms no problem. Spurs want player and cash or £35m+ in cash.

Sahin has been mooted but Mou likes him and wants to see him have a good preseason.

I'm not really sure whether it's likely that we'll announce AVB, Sigurdsson and Vertonghen all in one go. Seems like a slightly odd thing to do and is certainly not the sort of thing that we've done previously under Levy.

I think maybe we'll hear about Sigurdsson on Sunday (when he's no longer on loan at Swansea) and then get an announcement on AVB next week at some point. As for Vertonghen I suspect that hinges on the apparent boardroom chaos at Ajax.

I think if we expect some sort of super announcement next week, then we'll all be disappointed.
