Exactly.

Anyone thinking we should sell Modric is saying we should let Chelsea (CHELSEA FFS :bang:) bully us, and players wlak out on contracts when we don't want to sell.

Anyone saying it should have been sorted out months ago (HOTTY!) - it was...when Dan Levy said he is absolutely not for sale.
What was the alternative?
When Chelsea made a derisory offer AFTER tapping him up blatantly, should Levy have said "Oh of course, just let us negotiate a slightly better price and we'll let you have him"? Bearing in mind he had already stated emphatically that none of our top performers would be sold

Must not be sold this Summer /of.

Let him rot on the bench for 4 years, ruining his career in the process, before we sell this Summer...adn never, ever to Chelsea AFAIAC

SP, is it just me or are you soften you approach about Modric being sold?

I agree though we can't sell him as a matter of principle now. If even it is stubboness on a Wenger level. Levy has stated throughout the summer that we would not sell our best players and Modric was not for sale. If he folded now he would lose the trust of the fans.

Isn't much else Levy can do. He categorically said "We will not sell Luka Modric to Chelsea football club or anyone else". Reporting them will do nothing as proved with Keane and Berbatov, and the media won't let it go despite us saying he's not for sale every fucking week.

Well at least if he had reported them it might stop them bidding  I thought they where already in trouble for something like tapping up recently or did I dream that?

As I said at the start of the summer, and SP will vouch for it but didn't agree, that Levy can U-turn if he believes he's acting in the best interests of the Club.

Levy can claim, when making that statement, that he wasn't in a position to know how things would develop personally with Modric, or to the extent they have which will ultimately be to the detriment of the Club.

If you couple that with sections of the support wanting him sold and all of a sudden Levy has a way out to sell him.

Still not saying he will though, just that its a possibility in my eyes - obviously.

Wonder how he'll be when Wigan play him.
The mood I'm in now, I'm assuming he'll be awesome.

If Levy's got any sense he'll keep Luka, but make sure he doesn't play in the Europa. Make sure he's not cup-tied in Europe and then his price will go up further for the January window.

There seems to be a few ITK's saying we'll get a major signing in the next few days. i really hope that we'll end up with someone to compete with Lennon.

The problem with the whole Modric thing is that again we could sell him on the 31st and have £35m sitting there while we are struggling to get the ball to Lennon and Bale.

We should have done an Arsenal and said to Chelsea "do not come back unless you are bidding £45m". Chelsea's behaviour is so slimy and scummy. No doubt they will have their people around him in Croatia again to convince him to go public and push for the deal.

Nice to see Giovani moving, good player but not gonna cut it here, shame as he could have got in ahead of Lennon had he had any work rate.

I cant believe Chelsea didnt go for Nasri... he looks twice as good as Modders and half the price.

His performance deserved it to be honest, he coasted...I can't believe some of the ratings on the thread in SC for him. He didn't put the effort in at all, he played like it was a friendly. I actually can't remember him making a single tackle.

Grim. Benayoun could do very well in the right side, was underused at both Liverpool and Chelsea, but this while thing is turning into quite the saga.
Benayoun is very skillfull, scores goals and plays good one two#s in and around the oppos box but he's 31, injury prone and although I seen that much of himI cant remember when he last played a full game, he always used to be subbed or used as a sub when I've seen him on M.O.T.D.

Why???

Go...Wigan....on a free....what the...?
(edit - just seen fee, not free...but even still....Wigan?)

Never thought I'd say it and it may be the beer talking but I'm leaning towards selling Modric, especially after today and HR's comments...just not to fucking Chelsea. Sell that shyster abroad.
I really thought he was more of a man than this.

I hope DL's learnt from Berba enough to have lined up a decent replacement before milking whichever fucker we sell him to, for as much as possible.

From CL to a bloody shambles in one season!

There always is though, check back through the log for some examples and I'm sure there are more that have been missed. It gets to 5 minutes until the window closes and people are always still claiming something massive is going down at Spurs lodge, and unless they mean Crouch is fellating Harry then they are almost always wrong.
