While it's disappointing Liverpool and Villa are going around spending £20m+ on strikers whilst we're apparently doing fuck all, media outlets barely gave us a mention regarding to Suarez, despite what some ITKs were claiming.

why do people have this notion that just because they got us fourth last year they suddenly deserve the right to be untouchable this year?

united have improved, chelsea have improved, so have arsenal and man city beyond expectations....so we need to also.

yes vdv has been great but him and bale cant do it all themselves. the crouch assists brigade can do one as far as im concerned, a strikers role is to score goals, if we provided those stats in any other profession we would be sacked by now.

We need someone, those 4 sacks of shit masquerading as professional footballers are not going to get us the goals to make 4th, we don't make 4th the consequences are terrifying, Levy too if the wallet is closed is being shortsighted, better to spend £30m now and make CL than spend nothing now and stagnate, the real money is in the CL

I think we all agree the need for a new striker, however you have to consider where a new signing needs to fit into our team and what they need to bring. In our case we need a 'No. 9', a physical presence but also needs to have pace to run in behind defences, and lastly to find the net regularly. This type of player is incredibly hard to find, and expensive, and therefore it takes time to acquire the player!

To spend £30m for the sake of it, like you and others seem to suggest, is crazy IMO.

That was last season, that is like saying a boxer who was unbeaten till this year but then loses his next 6 fights is still a brilliant boxer

This aint boxing mate, it's football, and if we were 10 points behind 4th I'd agree with you, but we're not, we are still in with a huge chance. So please stop slating our current strikers (I know the goals they've scored this season aint good).

Bottom line is we are still up there with the players we have, and the window is not shut YET

i trust harry and his coaching staff. apart from that im afraid i have to disagree abit! every man and his dog can see we need a striker. i dont need to tell harry and staff that. so harry passes buck over to mr chairman, comes out today and says all top players we chat to are on 130.000.00 a week or more. thats all well and good and to be honest i dont give shit what they are on. WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT? liverpool are not in champs league and prob wont be for few years to come yet 20 minutes ago go out and spend 24 million on a striker. our club has been crying out for striker for best part of 18 months imo and we done fuck all about solving it, good intentions or not.... the time for talk is well over.. even in champions league and great chance of quarter finals we still cant attract a top top striker... sad days...

I'm with you on most aspects. I get frustrated but its plain to see that we are a world class striker shorter of a proper challenge, but thats not to say what we have is bad is it?

£24m for Suarez? Im glad its them and not us! we got to be real about this. There are risks, and then there are RISKS!.

I personally dont think he is worth anywhere near that.

I also think that Liverpool think that is well overpriced also, otherwise this would have been done days ago. Just so happens that they get desperate after seeing a bid come in for their prize asset. desperate to show ambition they dont truely warrant?

In light of recent news, have any of the DOOM-mongers spontaneously combusted yet?

Yes, just because we missed out on J.Cole and it turned out to be a dodged bullet, let's never sign anyone Liverpool are interested in again!! Even if it's Messi! Good logic!

Also, our forwards hit some purple patches last season, so despite the fact Crouch and Defoe, our best 2 arguably, have 1 goal between them, we should keep them. Les Ferdinand scored a bunch of goals in the past, by the same logic let's get him in the team.

it hasnt just been the last month that deals can be done though is it? we have effectively had since last may to identify that special player and negotiate with the club.

modric was done sans window because it was needed. this is probably more necessary

Lets not get too crazy now, mate!

Scarily I think Cole would be quite good for us, he has strength, isn't bad in the air, showed some pace at Chelsea, hell would freeze over before I want him in reality but I actually think he would do a pretty decent job
