Scarily I think Cole would be quite good for us, he has strength, isn't bad in the air, showed some pace at Chelsea, hell would freeze over before I want him in reality but I actually think he would do a pretty decent job

If you think about it defoe still hasn't had a run in the side. We have a run of games coming up where he can be that " flat track bully" people say he is. I'd obviously like to sign a striker but if we don't I have faith in Defoe and pav if he stays. Anyway. Who's to say whoever we buy will slot straight in and start banging in the goals? Iirc drogba didn't start here with a bang. Took almost a season to adapt. Can we actually afford fr a big foreign signing to come in and find his feet as the only striker in the formation we play?

I honestly beleive so mate. We had the cash for Dzeko, FACT...he just wanted the £200k at Citeh, And we have bid upto £25m for Carroll. Its there, but we cant get this one wrong

last season at any one point we were fourtunate enough that each of our strikers hit purple patches. I think I'm right in saying that they all had a hatrick at one point or another.

At no point this season have they gathered momentum enough to gain some solid form.

I do agree with you 6 Goals is a shocking return for our strikeforce, but I dont beleive it to be a true reflection on their ability. Form is temporary and all that....

It is a true reflection on Crouch as he has always had a poor goal scoring record. Defoe is still the same Defoe that we signed in Jan 04, he will hit a purple patch during the season but generally be wasteful after that. Pav, Harry does not trust enough and finally Keane may aswell be dead as he's nowhere near the first 11 now.

To go a full summer transfer window as a top 4 club, and 28 days of a 31 day transfer window in Jan, and still not upgraded a single striker is quite frankly not good enough for a so called big club like ourselves. Fact is we have stood still and come next June we will rue this fact......

I doubt we have the money to spend £20+mill on a player who we dont think is quite what we need. This is massive money even in football.

Plus signing a big name player for a lot of money would help clinch the OS bid, CL football at the OS would boost our chances of getting our mits on it and a big name signing would boost our profile ahead of the vote

We should pay whatever it takes for a world class striker
