If Real buy another striker then Benzema is likely to be allowed to leave this window, rather than in the summer (he will be leaving Real regardless now).

Whether he wants to come to us and whether we can afford him, who knows, it seems unlikely, but this is Real we're dealing with and so who knows.

Personally i think we may have, and probably should, give them first refusal on any players we sell, for three reasons:

1.) It should help us when buying players from them, such as VDV etc...

2.) If a player is going to leave us, even when we don't want them to, at least by going to Real they are not staying in the prem.

3.) Real pay silly money for players they want. This is a good thing. If Bale decides he wants out at any point, at least we can rest assured that Real will stump up £40m+ if they want him.
Except they haven't bought a striker.

Adebayor is on loan and they have no intention of buying him.

1) Madrid don't operate on a mutual co-operation basis. They are all about take and no give. VDV was offered because Mourinho didn't want him and they got their money back. Ask Hamburg about Madrid's attitude in acquiring players.

2) No player has ever gone to Madrid from Spurs. That may change but you sell to who offers the price you want and where the players wants to go, hence Suarez to Liverpool.

3) Madrid are currently hamstrung by a lack of funds, hence Adebayor on loan and Mourinho fuming that they denied him the new striker he insisted was needed.

But how long can we sustain this policy for? We need to be contention for top 4 every season, last season we were lucky in that Man City were still getting their shit together and Liverpool were in decline. This season is already proving tougher despite an upgrade on our striker options (VDV). But if we seriously want to keep this momentum going we need a proper 25 goal a season striker on our books.

Yes but there are only a handful of these in the world and none have been linked to us this window.

not sure if it has been mentioned, but maybe the delayed decison on the Olympic Stadium has played a part in DL's decision to pay higher wages? Pure conjecture, but maybe the boss man wanted to secure our future stadium, and with that guaranteed, he could splash the cash.

Is it a coincidence that harry has come out with these comments on the day the decision was due or am i smoking out my A*se?

If we cant get the marquee signing in (Hulk would defo be our Tevez equivalent) then i want Levy to splash out on Wickham. Untried, and untested, but he played well against the Scum and we need an alternative to 3MP.

But you'll forgive me for asking people to respect other people's views
Of course!

All I am saying is that, perhaps unwittingly, a precedent somewhat contrary to the rules has been set these past 48 hours through non-enforcement. So its hardly surprising if people are now taking potshots at each other en masse.

Even if the main targets are out of reach there must be some decent strikers out there that we could get - Van Wolfswinkle, Honda, Sanchez - at this stage just bringing in a new face could re-ignite the scoring.

Van Damme, Benz and Volkswagon could probably do a job for us right now as well.

Am I right in thinking that we would have let both Keane and Pav leave by now without having anyone coming in?

If this still happens, and arent able to sign another striker (heaven forbid) before the window closes, we will be left with Defoe, Crouch & VDV.

If VDV gets injured or suspended (either are quite likely), it will force us to play with our final two up top with no back-up!

We seriously need to bring someone in......and fast.
