Pleased the Goat gave a 'solution', but alas it confirmed my fears. Can we now please refer to all such vague hints as vague hints rather than cryptic clues?

A cryptic clue is a clever, skilful construction based on a defined set of rules and, crucially, when properly solved, can lead to only one correct answer. That was no more a cryptic clue than Karl Pilkington's on Rockbusters.

You see, the fact that a week or 2 ago, the Rossi deal to Juve was "all but done" and since has not occurred can only be a good thing.

Also, Leandro is up to us I feel (price), the player will want to come it seems.

Llorente is an interesting one as it smells of Pav. Quiet on the transfer front, we know we are interested in a striker in Spain, but we might get the one people were expecting the least.

Vucinic, I personally feel the rumours regarding us wanting to get the best installments deal is right. I don't believe that the player is not interested. Time will tell.

I wouldn't mind any of the above, just so long as we get any of the above.

Asked and answered a few posts back.

Rossi? Thanks. Read Steve's update and found this

Rossi was born to Italian immigrant parents in Teaneck, New Jersey; his father, Fernando Rossi, coached soccer and taught Italian and Spanish at Clifton High School. His mother, Cleonilde Rossi, was also a language teacher at Clifton.[1] At age 12, he moved to Parma, Italy with his father to begin his youth career at Parma

So Storts cryptic was pointing to Rossi.

Rossi, Hernandez and Leandro? I think we might be getting delussional again. After the last few windows to think we can sign 3 really promising strikers like that seems a bit far fetched to me.

I have been here too long and have lost all hope.

Please let me be wrong.

Sorry, I can't find this anywhere. What was storts' cryptic?

I think that the biggest issue is that we know that we are only a few players away from being a very good side and are capable of getting back into the top 4.

With a couple of strikers, Affellay and Diarra we'd be in great shape.

It may be that we'll need to take a hit on some outgoings to provide the money for the fees and wages, as in some ways those players that we are looking to move on are him earners like Keane for example.

You have to hope our deadwood are going to lower their expectations / wage demands eventually. Otherwise they wont even get a squad number next season.

I choose to believe that we already have a deal or two in place that have yet to be announced as Levy doesnt want to hurt our chances of getting top dollar for our out going players. I've always been a dreamer.

Doesn't happen unfortunately.

It's clear who our targets are and although I'd love there to be a secret striker who we're making moves for on the sly I just don't think that happens at all.

I reckon our targets are:

Rossi - Tricky as I don't get the feeling he's particularly interested
Adebayor - Wage issues
Vucinic - Most likely of all but seems to keep hitting roadblocks
Hernandez - Don't know much about him. Not sure he's a line leader though.
Leandro - Issues regarding when he moves.

If we sign a striker who isn't in those five then I'll be surprised unless we lower our sights to someone like Odemwingie.

In which case I shall dream on

I agree with your list and would only add Llorente to it. I cant see why we wouldnt be looking at him. He would be within the £25-30M bracket that Harry says we would be willing to spend and his wages wouldnt be out of our range either.
