Like i said weeks ago Downing is rated highly by Harry and the staff. I am told he is not a replacement for Lennon or Bale for that matter....Lennon has been offered a new contract

Also we havent officially bid for him yet...We have just asked to be informed with Liverpool chasing him. Our main priorities at the moment are a CF and CB... But Harry would like to add another winger to the squad... Also Parker should be completed once some of the deadwood have left...

Shouldn't this be in the ITK RO thread? Or don't people wanna particularly read about Downing? At least it says Lennon is staying...

Love it, especially with your signature. You're a hard Historian!

Will you be updating your sig! You know "you're an old man but..."

Sig update: "You're a big man but your outta town, with me it's a full-board vacation, now, enjoy"Eek

What is people obsession with money, if we get 30 million for Lennon, 50 for modric we should sell ???? I remember when we sold carrick for 18 mil and laughed but it set us back a season or two.The problem we have got is shifting some of the fringe players so we don't have players claiming a wage and not even registered to play in the premier league. The Money is there to buy players no doubt.

I don't have any...hope that explains:grin:

I agree, though...think Lennon will be better next year(if we don't sell), and the chances of replacing him with better (in which case I wouldn't be too worried about selling), while spending less than we get for him, are not that good.

Sexist bastards!

Not at all, not at all...I am ignorant to everyone:wink:

spurs wont sell lennon, he has what everybody wants....frightening pace, frightening counter attack potential...

spurs wont sell him & quite frankly we would be stupid to even listen for offers..

ive said it before, if teams around & above us are wanting our players, then the ones they want are the ones we should strive to keep...simple

lennon wont be leaving, he will be signing an extension

IMO
And similarly, we should not be chasing cast-off's from other CL contenders (unless the club are letting them go unwillingly).

Sorry if this takes things a bit off course, but we have but we have been linked with him both this transfer window and the last...

Very interesting that none of the usual big guns have come in for him. If he really is The Next Big Thing, there is no way he'd be passed up by all the big clubs so he can go chase long balls up in Sunderland. This kid has been scouted with such scutiny that most clubs must know if he clips his pubes - and it seems that he has been deemed not good enough.

But from what I've seen of him - and, I'm far from a good judge on player potential - he looks decent. He's still very, very young, has size and a bit of skill. For £8M (possibly going up to £13M) i think he'd be a bargain.

Seems odd that we're passing this one up. Under £10M for a possible future England #9 is a steal.

Have you seen him play a whole match? I watched him live twice last season and he looked awful - really cumbersome.

I doubt he'll ever be more than a Championship player tbh. Nile Ranger and Danny Welbeck are well above him in terms of potential, let alone the likes of Sturridge.

I think thats a bit harsh, he's still young and will be a good player(not as good as people making out he will be) but I rate Harry Kane higher than him atm

One shares his identity with the home of the Swans. The second has been raised by a cretin. The third learned his trade in what sounds like Ms Spears' country. And leastly: Gio's brother? No.

Cant really see Wickham being 'top class', the ones that generally look like they are going to be top class already standout e.g. Rooney, Wilshire etc - I mean look at the difference between Henderson and Wilshire and Henderson cost £20million?!?!

Not sure that Lennon going is the end of the world, don't see any reason to sell him but I suspect that even though he's not available we would consider a proper offer, if the right price was offered he's not one we can't replace.

We never seem to sign the best young talent. I'm sure we're interested in Souleymane Coulibaly but the chances of him actually coming here must be pretty close to zero. It's a shame as he's a great prospect remeniscent of Samuel Eto'o.

We only bought the most exciting player in world football at the moment in Gareth Bale.....what more do you want?
