I think Lennon has gone backwards over the last couple of years, and if (as is regularly the case) he doesn't have the confidence to take his full back on then he is a passenger. Not a great passer or crosser (although better than he was) his movement is also very predictable, and his speed hides a multitude of sins...

Sell. Don't sell. Meh...

We never seem to sign the best young talent. I'm sure we're interested in Souleymane Coulibaly but the chances of him actually coming here must be pretty close to zero. It's a shame as he's a great prospect remeniscent of Samuel Eto'o.
Gareth Bale is seemingly on a lot of Champions League Clubs' wanted lists. As is Modric and both are in their early promise / prime.

Who ever wrote the Lisandro Lopez cryptic, well done, really like that one.

Before today, I don't think he had been officially linked in this window, so that could be a great guess. He'd also be a great signing for us - hard working, strong, good bit of skill and he can hit rockets with either foot.

Blue AND Yellow ( the last cryptic highlights the 'AND') = Green = Hulk

Ms Spears country -BRITAINY, Rossi learnt his trade in Britain and was born in America

Gio brother, no? = Leandro

Swans = Lisandro Lopez

Cretin = I have no f***ing idea !!

So, you and the rest of the world discover this "obvious" talent in the last week and we messed up by not signing him? Do a google check and see how much you find on him prior to June....maybe an article in april when he scored. That's about it

But just to poke a real hole in your argument: Do you know who the best player at this very tournament was in 2007? Giovanni dos Santos, so we do sign that EXACT kind of best young talent.

The cretin one is hard... And I don't subscribe to the berbatov answer.

Cretin is oft used in conduction with french, so son of a Frenchman... Hmm, not limiting enough.

Tricksy.

EDIT: sorry it was "raised by a cretin" so it could point at a wenger player, so maybe that one is adebayour after all or Diarra?

Apologies for being late to the table with answers that have been mentioned, but that would be my cretin guess.

Anyone saying they wouldn't care if Lennon leaves, remember the important goals he popped up with and assists, Newcastle home and away, Liverpool home and AC Milan away spring to mind..

Also bear in mind his crosses are to the least effective strike force in the premier league...with a Drogba and a Rossi Lennon would become 3 x more effective and it would probably give him more confidence to run at people even more.

I've just finished the most horrendous day at work that involved a 6am start and a 11pm finish, I thought I would come have a quick check of the days events and find forty five bloody pages (I hate cyptics btw!:bang:) I got up to page ten and eyes have started to bleed, could one of you fine fellows give me a quick fill in of what I have missed!

Exactly my thoughts. One game on, three games off.

Agree with everything apart from the highlighted bit.

I definitely think he's lacking the confidence he used to have..and overall he's not anywhere near as consistent as he used to be. He has the odd good game, but is pretty underwhelming far too often.

Exactly my thoughts. One game on, three games off.

I wouldn't disagree too much with this, but what he does offer, even in his poorer games, is a threat. The opposition need to keep an eye on him, and have to factor in his speed..so even when he isn't playing well, it doesn't mean he isn't benefiting the rest of the team.

Ultimately I'd say he's not one of our best players, but he's about as good as we're going to get on the right wing. If we were talking about Ashley Young replacing him then maybe it would have been worth it..but if Drowning is the solution I'd seriously have my concerns about whoever posed the question...

Really, really stupid to sell Palacios. After Kanoute, the worst sale of a player that we were under no pressure to sell at all.

I didn't say that Souleymane Coulibali was an "obvious" talent (btw thanks for making that up and putting it in quotes - have you considered a career writing for the Daily Mail?) just that we were unlikely to sign him given our past record.

As for the 2007 U17s World Cup GDS didn't even play in it as he was too old. I think you are referring to the 2005 U17s World Cup in Peru but you have your facts wrong again. GDS didn't win the Golden Ball, Anderson did. GDS won the Silver Ball but that was a farce based entirely on his pre- tournament reputation as so often these awards are. The Golden Ball should have gone to Nuri Sahin who was by far and away the best player in the tournament. GDS wasn't even the best player in the Mexican team as he struggled on the plastic pitches in Peru and spent half the time falling on his arse. I know this because I watched every televised match from that tournament as I do a lot of betting on youth football.

We signed GDS as a Barca reject and there was plenty of evidence then that he wouldn't be suited to British football. In recent memory we have never signed a top quality foreign youth prospect (Kevin Prince Boateng was the closest we have come to it). I did have hopes that this would change when we were supposed to have signed Anthony Lozano last summer but the transfer never materialised. I'll be delighted if we sign Coulibaly but i'd be even more surprised.

I like your thinking.

out of interest MilkyBarSpur, why aren't you called MilkyBarYid? :shrug:

I agree that I'd prefer us to keep Palacios, but I'd probably put Darren Bent in that list as well.
