Is it? Or is it simply a player he admires and wants? Just because we can't get Adama, that doesn't mean Nuno 100% needs a wide attacker this window or we've failed him.

I never said that we’d failed Nuno did I. I’d assume the reason he wants Traore isn’t because he’s a great guy it’s because he has qualities he feels the team lacks therefore it’s an area he wishes to strengthen in the team. Which is exactly what you said isn’t it that it has to be an area that Nuno feels strengthening. So by your own logic it completely undermines you saying it’s simply fans being annoyed that we’re not signing who they want.

I have to agree with Rob. Time and again we failed to push on, let's be honest the side we have started the season with looks pretty average on paper. Way too much weight is being given to two CBs (Dier and Sanchez) who have been with us for years and we all know aren't good enough. All of a sudden a few good games and all is forgotten. Big risk if you ask me. They may turn it around this season but it's a big risk. They are just as likely going to end up costing us sooner or later.

Our midfield lacks guile and creativity, and we are severely lacking a RWF and / or a back up striker.

It's always the same old story that we leave ourselves one or two signings short and we never push on and do what we need to do to give us a real chance of success.

If Kane or Son get injured, we have no goals from anywhere else in the squad. How can a team have just two goalscorers? The rest of the squad can't buy a goal.

Where is the RWF to upgrade on Moura and Berg? Where is the creative attacking midfielder? The back up striker? This club does not build for success, it always just does the bare minimum.

At this stage a RB isn't enough. We needed two more at a minimum.

Goodnight gents, I know we all have different opinions - but everyone who posts here just wants the best for Spurs.

Let's hope in 24 hours we're all very happy with our business and can celebrate going into the international break top of the league ?

It doesn't matter what positions we wish to fill. No manager, not Harry, not MoPo, not AVB, not Mourinho, not Nuno are willing to take players they don't want. Vinicius scored 1, yes 1, PL goal last year, Scarlett can do that. No young, up and coming striker, or in their prime striker, is going to want to sit on their butts and watch HK play. So, best we can hope for is to find a surplus striker who considers us a springboard to a better place (so many out there), or to get others to start scoring. I suggest the latter is what we will do. If Bergwijn, Moura, Son are all considered FW's, we need more goals. Llorente, it was a lifeline. Janssen was a punt. Vinicius was a hope at springboard. Didn't work. None were "replacements". Harry will play most, if not all PL games and Cup games. Conference League is where Scarlett and others may get a legit chance. Unless it is an established striker (and I cannot see why one would come to sit - been canvassed year after year - no takers) if Harry goes down (as is the case every year), Son or Moura step in there. Vinicius did not play last year when Harry went down. If you are looking to play two strikers, would it not be Son and Kane? They will both play almost all minutes of all PL games. Why would this year be any different?

Yes, Kane may go. I doubt January, but next summer, if no CL, is a possibility. That's when you can throw funds at a young striker or two to have them step in and earn their spot.

More important (short and long-term) are to get Dele, Moura, Gio, Bergwijn all scoring goals. That's the fix. Surely those four can all improve on the collective 5 goals they scored in the PL last year. Grossly underachieved last year. If they all continue like that, they will all be on the outs unless they are laying on lots of assists.

-Kept Kane - yes we have a one year older Kane hopefully he will keep fit
-Replaced Alderweireld with Romero - i would say like for like and time will tell if Romero will have impact first year,
-Managed to swap Lamela for a highly rated youngster in Gil - What about Bale?
-Signed another highly rated kid in Pape Sarr - Still in France
-About to replace Aurier with a superior player in Emerson - Superior? in defense hopefully. Attack would say the same
-Could still sign another forward in the next 24 hours -Hopefully. Still not replaced Eriksen either. Which sticks out like a sore thumb when we are trying to control games

i will save my meltdown for 24 hours, but it is looking grim, would hope we would be in a stronger place than last year, people can not seriously say we are stronger now?
We spent £50m on Ndombele and to a man on here we were creaming ourselves that we managed to capture him. He's on £200k a week and we can't give him away at the moment. If you think we're going to spunk another 50m on another CM who'll likely cost £200k a week as well whilst we have Ndombele you're sadly mistaken. We've got to get a tune out of him or go without.

We're not Chelsea.

All ITKs have been consistent we want either 3-4 or 4-5 more signings (not counting Sarr). If we get Emerson we'll have got 1 of them...

JJ did say yesterday we have a plan for the next days and looking good from our side. Let’s just hope that plan isn’t “do nothing”!

my two pennies are that we need minimum two additions. Kane cover and Skipp cover. I think Gil and GLC can provide creativity if Nuno wants to be a bit more adventurous.

We've confirmed 4 in, one more looks like it's done, and personally I think there could well be one more tomorrow. So that's potentially 6 in. From what I can see most are angry because the players we are bringing in aren't first XI starters. The problem with this train of thought is those saying it don't actually know what the plan has been for these players, or what Nuno is looking to do long term. Of course Sarr is for the future and Gollini is behind Hugo, but the others are likely to be starting a fair bit if not first choice.

Let's wait and see how this plays out tomorrow, because Emerson plus possibly one more makes this a very good window imo.
Not a dig at you personally, and your post is pretty much spot on. But Kane does an ankle every season. surely it can’t be seen that 1 striker is ok for the whole season? If son moves into the middle we are short on wingers? Unless they trust an 18 year old to play up top? Sess doesn’t look ready to play in the prem. Gill looks the nuts. Right side is a bit weak for me. ? Cm could definitely do with a bit of creativity also. Guess Traore was the right side issue but if we can’t get him then surely we know it’s a weak point/

Coming into the last day of the transfer window we are lacking that new player in (pos tomorrow's one more may be that player) especially compared to last year where we had 4 or 5 who looked like they were to go straight into the 11. I do feel that we should be pleased with the direction that this summer has gone, especially considering how bad it could have been (Gattuso in and Harry out anyone?!).

A few reasons I feel optimistic:
Nuno - not 'top tier' but already looks to be a man manager and has us playing in an organised fashion (not holding on to a one goal lead....), arguably these two things would have seen us in the top four last season.
Paratici - is he god? That would be an ecumenical matter. Is he good? Yes. We have already seen deals that Levy & Co wouldn't have been able to secure both in and out.
Kane - whatever you think of him (and his brother) - we have his goals and more for another season. There is no one here who wouldn't love to see him succeed at Spurs and be here for the rest of his career. Plus the spoilt brats didn't get him.
We have bought quality - from what I can see there isn't the very hopeful/speculative purchases we have made in the past because they were cheap and we could get three of them for the price of somebody decent.
Players we thought were dead/loan returnees - Skipp, Deli, Sanchez, Dier, etc. If their performances continue how many 'new players' have we effectively got?

All of the above said we do lack that quality player could make the difference between a better season and a step forward season. The extra back up striker (albeit, we have put in decent bids to Inter and Florentina, not cheap and cheerful) and we need more creativity. Arguably the latter is the bigger issue where N'Dombele, who could be the man based on skill (not attitude), looks so far away from the team.

I don't understand how people can see this window as a failure, first window for a new coach and dof, where we've secured the signing of an awesome future prospect, one of Europe's top young wingers, a world class centre back and a more than adequate back up for Hugo. Rome wasn't built in a day, or even a transfer window, this process will take time. To expect it be done in one window is rediculous and unrealistic.

Ooooft I miss the old ITK thread ??

Anyhoo if you can't beat em then join em, my two cents is I had zero expectations for the transfer window after our manager search so we are well ahead of what I thought would happen ?‍♂️

I'm therefore happy enough

Come on! You don’t actually believe that do you? Willing to spend 40m + on a player he likes but not in a position of concern? If that’s the case and we have 40m hanging around then let’s spend it on a quality cm?
