It's not one newspaper report, we've had several. First, we had his agent's quotes, then we had direct quotes from Bentaleb himself. Today, we've got loads of stories linking Bentaleb with Arsenal. It's not a conincidence, it's an orchestrated attack, designed to put huge pressure on Spurs to give them what they want.
I bet you love conspiracy theories too.

Don't believe in a single conspiracy story. Conspiracy stories don't involve direct quotes from the people involved.

If George W Bush was quoted as saying, "yes, I arranged 9/11 to happen so i could invade Iraq and get all their oil" and he didn't deny saying it straight away, then it wouldn't be a conspiracy story would it, it would be global news melt-down.

You obviously do believe in conspiracy stories because you're happy to believe all the crap that's being spouted about a twenty year old ill advised kid who wants a pay rise. It's evident to me that anyone believing it's an "orchestrated attack" believes in conspiracy stories.

looks like some of this has been posted already but heres all from jasper since last update

jasper:As Poch said Hugo is very happy here. One more season, and if not in T4 we will let him go as a promise.

We are still talking to MS peeps, and he has not turned us down. Saints wanting crazy money for him which makes it difficult I am told.
Key is Saints wanting crazy money for him. I mentioned before they are doing a DL. My personal take would be him seeing us as unlikely would then only go to CL club in UK. Few weeks ago he was very keen. There is nobody that can deny that. Know we still want him, but huge financial challenge is the obstacle.

Another signing near to being announced is the whispers. I have not a clue who.

Frankly I don't see anything wrong in one of our most outstanding players last season trying to get the best deal for him and his family. Wouldn't you do the same? Bentaleb has said he loves it here at Spurs. He obviously wants to stay. That's a good thing. Negotiations are negotiations - and by all accounts Daniel Levy drives a hard bargain. So Bentaleb is fighting hard (as he does on the field) for as a good a deal as he can get.

Let's just hope it all doesn't turn sour. There must be give and take on both sides...

Exactly this Jospur. I don't have a problem with him getting a payrise at all, nor for standing up for himself. What I do have a problem with is the way that some people are making him out to be some kind of calculating arsehole for being presumptious enough to expect a fair and decent deal and for believing any old crap that gets posted in a newspaper.

Really hope we get Morgan. He will make much more of a difference than people realize.

The problem is that both he and his agent have gone public.
All talk about contract negotiations should be kept in house, not for the media to twist and contort into a story.
In my opinion his will back-fire on him as Levy takes no prisoners.

In my opinion, respect is a two-way street. Okay, let's surmise that all the bullshit in the papers is true; Nabil Bentaleb is a first team, top 5, midfielder on 8k a week who's been trying to negotiate a new contract for 9 months. In that scenario, it doesn't sound like the Club has a lot of respect for him does it? All I'm saying is that people shouldn't just jump on the "Nabil is an arsehole" bandwagon just because of one or two newspaper stories.

No, he wasn't in the AIA cup squad, so he's for sale (per itk).

"Younes Kaboul, Vlad Chiriches and Paulinho have been given permission to remain at the Training Centre, while Emmanuel Adebayor and Etienne Capoue have been granted leave to return home for family reasons."

http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/aia-cup-squad-250515/

The article also fails to mention Lennon at all, and we have heard nothing on him since his loan to Everton. I'd assume he is also gone as well.

Look, its a negotiation. Both sides look for leverage where they can. I do fear this may backfire on Bentaleb, but I am hopeful both sides can find some common ground - smaller wage increase now, more realistic bonus money to hit, or something along those lines.

So the players we know not to be involved in AIA Cup winning squad are:

Kaboul
Chiriches
Capoue
Lennon
Holtby
Paulinho
Adebayor
Cebellos

With Khumalo and Friedal already gone could see quite a few changes to the squad and of those left behind only two (?) would count as homegrown. Every year we have the same anxieties over the number of homegrown players we have!

Not for this thread, so suffice to say we'll have far more home growns than 2.

Don't insult his intelligence, at 20 years old you're an adult and he knows exactly what he is doing.
.

Beg to differ there, have 3 twenty year old children, 21, 22 & 23. elder 2 graduated with good degrees [2.1's] and the youngest [21 year old] had his final economics exam this monday. Going into his finals he was on course for a first.

As their father I can tell you that wisdom comes through a combination of experience and intelligence, and at 20 they don't have a lot of experience.
