I isn't gonna happen though is it dude? I mean really, how long have we been chasing this guy. Apart from a brief Four Four two interiew, in all of this time he's never issued a come and get me plea. The Inter guys don't seem desperate to sell. The World cup is in his home country in 18 months time, where i'm pretty sure he will want maximum exposure in Brazil to get in the team.

I just don't see the point in this anymore.
Exposure in an English team in the Premier League and Champions League will be just as good. Scolari is the manager now, not that clown Menezes.

With Gene Hackman in charge they will pick the best players from wherever to play for Brazil, being in the domestic league is neither help nor hindrance. Staying Brazil may be more of a risk, every year there is a breakout player who makes a case for inclusion and the Brazilian press love to make a big deal over the next big thing. Damiao himself was one of these types.

Trouble is, Brazilian clubs aren't poor anymore and there are loads of agents wanting their slice. Fees are up and the other costs are high too. Plus getting a group to agree to a price is always hard. My office struggles to get 10 people to agree on where to get lunch from every day, I can't imagine how irritating it must be to get a group of agents to decide on their share of a huge transfer fee.

The only person I might get angry with this window is myself for even believing some of it. I'm trying to keep my expectation level so low at the moment to ensure I don't get damaged...:( Anything then is a bonus. It does sound as if we need to do something in the striker dept though.

Er... Nice picture, Ryan. You must be a real whizz with MS Paint ;)

This has to be the first window that nearly nobody is expecting the big signing to come off. So Levy, you've outfoxed us before, we expected the best, we got the rest, now we expect nothing.
We like surprises.

Ok, so not much time left. I reckon it's only ever going to be bargain basement or last minute affair. Now, Damaio still gets talked about. That ship has sailed IMO. Negredo is a maybe if he comes in on the cheap, but I reckon we'd still have to pay him decent wages.

So I'm thinking Hooper.....but I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up with Odemwingie!!

Not sure I buy Ghostfarmo's info that there will be two top strikers, unless Ade goes or the second is a young, cheap new talent.....or maybe even a loan. I don't see anything happening with Ade while he's in Africa.

While that is true Dan, with the World Cup being in Brazil as well, I'm not convinced that Big Fat Phil will have the final say on all things squad wise. As you said, Brazil isn't poor anymore, there's a lot of reddies flying around out there with a lot of people who want to throw their weight around.

I'd call Holtby a fairly big signing. Ok, not Mountinho level, but still...

If we get in a striker, even one of Negredo and Hooper, it will have be an epic Jan window by our standards.

I agree with the first bits of this. Dante got his first call up the other day at the age of 29, it's certainly not like Menezes reign who was an absolute clown.

I just think they will want to win, so they will choose whichever players they feel can achieve that - wherever they play.

This Might cheer you up

Ghostofarmo on FTl (Scout) saying we are in for some top strikerS and then mentions Damiao.

Seto on FTL saying we have moved for Negredo heard it from a Geordie who knows people at Spurs
Never trust a Geordie!

I think they will do that with about 18 of the players for the squad, then it wouldn't shock me to see Ronaldinho, Romario and Ronaldo make up the numbers just so the country can go bat shit crazy.

Love it!
A certain person with short arms and deep pockets now has to back his manager for up top or feel the wrath as there is no hiding anymore.
Going to be an intriguing couple of days to see what he does!
