Of course a player can sign a contract out of the window, but he has been stalling on signing his contract for 6 months, September is the point of no return for Levy. He won't allow him to go into the season in that situation.

I've had this gut feeling for awhile and as sad as it is, it makes sense given the stalled contract negotiations and the strong links to Gotze, Coric and the range of AMs throughout the window. Would also explain Lamela playing a lot more centrally throughout the preseason.

It also makes sense trying to appease him lately like we did trying to hold onto Bale by having him lead the kit announcements and giving him the captains armband for one of the preseason games.

If Eriksen's heart is somewhere else and we can get a good fee, I'd reluctantly accept the switch if we can find someone of similar quality.

Reus would be the dream but no chance given wages. Draxler possibly?

I really hope he proves me wrong and signs a 5 year extension tomorrow regardless

It makes no sense. There has been no evidence of Eriksen leaving. People are just making it up, adding copious amounts of hindsight to nothingness to spice up an otherwise slow ITK month. There are no major media links, no obvious clubs who'd pay 40 mill for him, and no obvious reason why he'd feel a "need" to leave.

If that's true it's a very worrying situation. I'm pretty sure I remember reading that Jan had an auto extension in his old contract activated though at some point so I'm not so sure he is in the same situation. It would surprise me if Lamela's contract wasn't already agreed due to the interviews he has been giving in recent weeks that make it very clear he wants to stay with us they almost read as if he has already signed at least.

I'm not saying Eriksen is leaving or even giving credibility to that ITK I still think he may well sign a new contract or it's already agreed. What I'm saying is that Levy will not allow it to get to September the 1st without it being sorted either way. Lets hope he signs and we can all be happy.

If Eriksen does leave, he should be at BM, RM or Barca. Going to Juve is no massive upgrade and it's as good as staying here since Juve won't be paying salary levels like the top clubs. I reckon it also makes sense for us to break the ceiling so that we don't waste another year unless we sign someone of similar caliber like Isco which will cost big money and wages.
