So does the signing of whitman mean no striker that can improve us or no leandro

Hello all, long time reader but first time I've posted.

Would Pedroza class as a 'homegrown' player so to speak, as he qualifies to play for England? Or does that only count for players who have been trained at an English club for a period of time?

If so not too bad a bit of business, as he's young, so has time to adapt and improve and probably wouldn't mind being a squad player rather than first choice.

It might also enable us to get rid of another 'homegrown' player that will enable us to make the marquee signing we would all like to see.

As he's under 21 presumably he doesn't count towards our squad anyway this season.

I'd imagine we'll bring him in, have a look at him, maybe send him out on loan and then if he progresses he'll be in the squad for next year.

I can't see us getting rid of all three strikers

He is a 20 year old who has just about broke into his current team, we have signed him because when Hernandez was at the same stage he ended up scoring almost a goal every game the season after.

He will most likely play UEFA cup games and then finish the season on loan. He will spend almost all of next season settling in I would think. He will come in as our 4th striker IMO.

He is under 21 so its not like he will take a squad place.

All four have been linked pretty heavily with moves away.

I agree that it would be surprising if we got rid of all four but it's certainly a possibility.

My point was that I don't think Pedroza will have been brought in as a first team squad member. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go out on loan fairly swiftly.

Seems to have a lot of pace about him. Certain fits the mould for what Harry was looking at bringing in.

Still not heard anything my end to say whether this is a definate goer or not

Yeah realised that after I had posted thanks for clearing it up anyway.

Was just trying to think of an extra reason for us bringing him in, if indeed we have, in view of the fact that he is relatively unheard of and hasn't actually played at that high a standard until this last year for Jaguares in the Copa.

I guess it's a cheap deal and if he does turn out to be the 'Mexican Rooney' as one article calls him then it'll look like a masterstroke.

His English birth won't stop him being classed as non-homegrown, but should help in terms of getting a work permit.

And according to Wiki, he was born 20th Feb 1991, so he counts as U21 for the next TWO seasons.

Well I tried to imagine the day when you would finally post something constructive, but my imagination isn't that far-fetched.

Ouch. That really hurts.

I must try to write something constructive and relevant to this thread.

I imagine Harry scouting in Barcelona. He knows that this is where Basil Fawlty got Manuel. He gets a waiter and slaps him arount the back of the head.

That was fun. Now back to ITK..

I'm guessing if we signed a fella called Javier Hernandez this time last year there would be plenty of people unimpressed. The proof is in the pudding and little pea's pudding's hot!

Am I the only one who knows that song? :-(

considering the press reaction in Mexico and quotes by him I would be shocked if he does not sign. Mind stranger things have happened.

It means we have someone new to loan out to the Championship for the seaon.

Apparently he's not even first choice yet at his Mexican club.
