Re Gallagher there were two players ange wanted when he joined one was maddison the other was Gallagher , it says a lot about our board and our ambition that we are waiting on the sale of holberg to get one of the managers main targets in

the other signings ange was happy to leave it up to the new data team we have assembled which is why you are seeing us linked with so many players that Brighton and brentford are because that’s how they work too and why I believe Johnson will happen as well

So we may have:

OUTS - possible Dier to Fulham, sanchez to Monaco, Japhet to Luton, with Lloris, NDombele, Reggie and Gio still uncertain.

INS - potential for Tosin and Johnson, Gallagher highly unlikely, Fati off, Eze a tedious link.

thanks for all the ITK at the moment gents, really appreciated 👍🏼
Did you mean tenuous link? Because tedious fits…

Edit: and D1’s ITK makes me look foolish instantly.

Bringing in young, talented and hungry players is a big plus for me. We have had relative success in the past and would love us to be like that again. That lot down the road have been doing the same and it seems to be working for them also. Importance there is ensuring the manager is given the time to properly coach them and hopefully we have some success and great football to boot.

They've got a real hard on for getting home grown options in during the death throes of this window right now. "Future proofing now due to rising prices" is the key phrase I keep hearing, and very much expect that's the way we are gravitating. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see 2 HG options come through the door in what ever guise that takes.
This is actually a decent and fair strategy. I would be doing the same and I Will never criticise the club for trying to stay ahead of that.

But why is it always so late in the window?

We have been linked to several decent HG players who would all be good additions.

I'll never get way we cant sign them and spend the rest of the window pushing players out the door.

If anything adding Tosin and Gallagher, makes it abundantly clear to the likes of Hojbjerg and Dier that their agent needs to get to work cause he is done here.

Totally agree.

I know it's unrealistic but the only outcome I hoped for this window was any player with under 2 years left on deals or nearing their later years be moved on in any way and for us to get younger and hungrier.

I think if we pull off a few of the alluded moves, we have started to head in that direction. It's not perfect or dream state but a reset was/is needed.

I personally am okay with bringing in HG and shifting the deadwood. Should give us more flexibility in the future.

Well, don't think its a big issue we haven't gone all out for Gallagher so far. Its not the biggest need in the squad and I still think he is not really available unless you really overpay, at least to us. Says a lot that he plays every game for Poch, Chavs are okay to keep him.

How you follow our team week in week and out and still call our #5 "Holberg", leaves me head scratching but whatever...

He's Poch's Mason/Bentaleb at the moment. Had a full preseason and fully adapted to the system. Will eventually get phased out by Caicedo and Lavia, who are players with a higher ceiling. That's my concern about us spending big money on him. He's good but I'm not convinced he's CL quality.

When the likes of Cole Palmer are being sold for £45M, it shows how nuts the prices of HG players has become.

It's a MASSIVE issue/need if your newly employed managers demonstrates he's his #1 target

Who's responsible for these deals.... certainly not Ange...... definition of insanity, doing the same thing expecting different results.
Any interested clubs , if they are there, know full well we are desperate to get rid of them so can just wait until the very end and offer us a take it or leave it pittance of an offer on the wages

If

On another day we heard Maddison was coming in no matter who the manager is. Feels like its a bit twisted to have another point to be mad at Levy.

Later we go in window , more the price is going to be for HG or rival players. We never learn. And in end , its 'We atleast tried'. Even though its a hated cliche here, thats what happens every window.

There is zero integrity in the recruitment, whether its towards the fans or clubs manager or to outside negotiating parties like the selling club or agents. Every thing is seen as a poker hand and worst part is , club is the worst poker player in the table.

Shame they didnt realise this before stepping away from the Raya deal or not following up on interest in Harvey Barnes or Alex Scott.
When you look at what they went for vs some of the prices being mentioned now we may have really missed a trick to boost our homegrown ranks.

Scott was a real strange one as he'd have been perfected and would have come to us in a heartbeat.

Yeah, would have liked Scott, not sure why we didn't do that. Would also just love us to have a bit of belief with our own younger players. Some great talents in the U23s.

I still worry that Bissouma’s skillset is so unique, that without him available our ability to dictate the tempo and drive from the heart of midfield is lost. I do hope, and I may well be misinterpreting what Trix ha said here, but that ‘players being offered’ and having ‘cash on the hip’ means we may yet also add in other areas like CM too, especially if someone comes in for Hojbjerg.
This it Conte-think. You dont have to have two of exactly the same player in every position. You cant even have that if they are a special player. You should have more than one way to beat teams. Relying on one player with a unique set of skills is madness
