This it Conte-think. You dont have to have two of exactly the same player in every position. You cant even have that if they are a special player. You should have more than one way to beat teams. Relying on one player with a unique set of skills is madness

And to be fair, Ange has said as much a number of times

Both true, but what Bissouma adds, in the sense of taking the ball off the back-line and being able to push us forwards, was completely missing from that team on Tuesday night. Another option who can play the 6 and playmake from deep is IMO essential. Unless we see that Sarr/Bentancur/Gio could do that. A Gallagher makes no sense to me.

Yeah, would have liked Scott, not sure why we didn't do that. Would also just love us to have a bit of belief with our own younger players. Some great talents in the U23s.
Also comes with truly accepting where we are as a club at the current moment, I'd love to see players like Santiago/Donley/Dorrington getting minutes in the Prem.

The reaction to the Fulham defeat probably indicates why that is unlikely to happen.

Shame they didnt realise this before stepping away from the Raya deal or not following up on interest in Harvey Barnes or Alex Scott.
When you look at what they went for vs some of the prices being mentioned now we may have really missed a trick to boost our homegrown ranks.
I did point this out.........

Everyone could see it coming a mile off. I like the guy but I'm still perplexed as to why we signed Solomon as our 5th choice winger if we were this concerned about HG numbers. No squad planning at all, just opportunistic purchases.

Anyway, I think I'd rather Gallagher than Johnson if I had to take one and we get rid of Hojbjerg, so glad to see that Dragon's ITK suggests we will indeed go for him.

Why do we want a loan player with no option to buy, one of the highest paid player. Since when we are obliged to strengthen Barcelona. If that is the case I am glad we are not getting him.

If we end up getting no one else then he could have worked for a season and we have no obligation, works both ways.
I doubt one season at Spurs would strengthen Barca so much that they would conquer all!

Fairly sure the homegrown excuse for not buying was also mentioned last year. Also, buying Tosin and Johnson doesn't solve our club trained homegrown issue, as we only have Tanganga and Skipp in the squad at the moment (till Scarlett, Devine etc break through).

Seems like another excuse, and example of poor planning.

Why did people have to make me aware that we ignored signing Alex Scott and are now chasing Homegrown talent

Bingo. He was cheap.
It was obvious at the time we were only signing him for this reason. Problem is, a free transfer is not cheap or a good deal if we didn't really need the player. We then can't shift them on in a year or 2 and they bloat the squad causing problems when we have pressing needs in other areas.
