Lamela is not first choice and I don't believe he ever will be. I think MoPo did not even want him on the bench yesterday and there was a very interesting post in his thread from someone who "takes a very keen interest in his career" who says Bambi is more suited to Spain or Italy.
And who would be first choice? Townsend who hasn't stood out 1 game this season? Oh please.

Why bother replying?

Because it annoys me.

He really really annoys me on this subject.

Which probably means he wins.

But now i've admitted that it means that, I have to continue replying.

Although I might be on ignore because he doesn't answer normally...

So, yeah..just here talking to myself....

The first choice in our last 2 games was Townsend and he will continue.
Edit: In the EPL. No doubt Lamela will start on Monday.

So you think he and the Club are him lying about an injury?

And you have written him off completely in terms of producing for Spurs?

We know you love Townsend, but it doesn't mean you have to knock his competition for a place at every opportunity especially on an unfounded basis.
Who was lying-Toure or Pellegrini?

I am not knocking him. I am commenting on a bit of "ITK" that says he is unhappy at not being first choice.

neither, medical staff probably told Pellegrini he was at risk of an injury and should be rested. Interpretation.

I dont know what the relevance of that is though.

Both Lamela and the Club have said that he has a strain.

I think you do know what the relevance is.
At the end of the day what we say on SC is just chat. MoPo makes the decisions and he has decided Townsend is better for the team than Bambi.

Has he?

Based on the game against Man Utd because they play with 3 CBs so decided he wanted pace outside?

And your continual use of 'Bambi' because you dont like a player makes you look a bit pathetic.

Townsend has played the last two games but prior to that he was in wilderness.

It's good to see our players being linked away already ( ones we need to shift) as I still can't see much happening until we shift some players.

Kaboul, Vlad, Naughton, bae, capoue, Holtby, Lennon, paulinho, soldado and ade all could be ones to go before we bring in some of the players we are linked with.

Unfortunately this is probably correct! I'm hoping he sees how we just need to strengthen in a few key places to see us through. Hopefully if we can get rid of a few players (Ade, Chiriches, Paulinho, Capoue, BAE) IT should free up some funds nicely.

Don't forget Soldado, he needs to be replaced too

Although I'd love it if we got Cabaye, Schneiderlin has become an extremely important player this window because of how well Southampton are playing. We could handicap one of our competitors for European football next year by buying him, and protect ourselves from Arsenal at the same time (if they are the alternative destination).

Not only would Schneiderlin improve our team, it's also a business decision, slightly scuing the amount we 'can' pay for him.

We need players like him to make those runs from deep, which we don't currently have an alternative to Mason for. Even Mason is still learning how and when to do it, and someone vastly more experienced would dramatically improve our play and ability to score goals. This is the one area where Cabaye has a question mark for me.

Personally I still think we need to also improve on Townsend and Lennon, and I'd sell them both to fund Lacazette or Depay if we can.
You know what, I hadn't thought of it like this. I think Scneiderlin is way over priced but then is he, if he gets you a Champions League place? Would buying him be the difference in us getting in the CL or not. He would certainly be a big loss to Southampton and it could end their chances of making top 4. Although they beat Arsenal without him. And would him playing for Arsenal cement their position in the top 4 and knock us out?

I now don't think it is worth risking him going to Arsenal and we really need to look hard at getting him in. I don't know how much the CL is worth in money terms, £10m + I presume. You then have the added bonus of attracting better players too.

And wouldn't it be nice to see Arsenal playing on Thursday nights in a half empty stadium and without CL money for the first time.

You think Schneiderlin would create more chances than Cabaye? Hell man, in 33 games Schneiderlin only gave one assist last season and created 30 chances. In a mere 19 games last year in the Premier League, Cabaye doubled that assist tally and created 33 chances. That's three more chances in 14 less games. Cabaye is a playmaker, while Schneiderlin is a well-rounded holding mid. Cabaye is the very embodiment of creating goals for others from deep.

And unfortunately, it's that very competition for the top four/European places that I think would lead Southampton to either not sell to us or demand an astronomical fee even greater than they did in the summer.

Yes totally different players, but are effective in their own areas, would probably make a pretty awesome pairing. These rumours of a bad attitude concern me about cabaye though. Seems right about now the young squad have a togetherness which is growing.
