Yip Manure signing players like kagawa and we are being linked to green and tomkinson it's fucking grim
Hold on chaps - nobody has come up with anything to make us doubt that we are finalising Vertonghen. That is not a bad start. It is an extended Bank Holiday weekend, loads of possible targets are with their international squads and to top it all, our chairman has suffered a family bereavement . So if it is a bit slow for a couple of days , it is hardly a great surprise and no reason to start looking for an open window in a high building

In the words of Donald Sutherland in "Kellys Heroes" - "hit me with some positive waves man" (or something like that)

Still dragging our fucking heels then...

...sigh.

Vertonghen's only been talking almost a month now, no doubt still arguing over the timing of the last few shekels.

If you sent our transfer team to do the shopping it would be out of date by the time they got it home...would be a good deal though.

I have a new tactic. I have decided the club will sign Vertonghen, Ade and Remy. I would prefer Vertonghen, Damiao, Ade and Affelay but I'll take it. I'm not coming back to this transfer forum until after the euros to see if I'm right.

Re; Harrys contract.
I’m told it’s not a one year extension to his current deal, but a new two year deal from now with a good increase in wages and an option to extend if both agree after two years. The wage is not an issue; it’s just the length of contract; Harry just wants a straight 3 or 4 year deal.

personally cant see it being a huge issue.

So Brownhead reckons we will announce Vertonghen today plus 1 other....at last something to lift the mood...

So Harry is staying. Regardless of whether you like him or not, I'm glad it's decided.

Fro clarity regarding Brownhead's info: does that mean an announcement of Verts + A.N. Other?

Levy's mother has been ill and has just died, his wife is also very poorly and we still have people complaining about lack of signings at this time.
This place is crazy!

Whilst this is very true Spurs are not a one man business. Spurs still run with or without Levy and I am sure he has done whatever he needed to to allow others to keep things ticking over. As such I would still anticipate movement, though if anything was hinging on Levy then it would be understandable if there was a "delay".

Harry is a good manager and I'm happy for him to stay for another season at least. People seem to forget that run we went on that had us 13 points ahead of the pack. Fair enough we fcuked up and Harry had a hand in that but let's not forget the press screwed us over with the Harry nailed on for the England job. I couldn't think of a worst distraction for Harry and the players.

Levy is the only person that would deal with Harry though. That's not Eagles job. And I doubt there's much contract work going on in light of a death such as Levy's mother. So I would really apply salt to that talk. No doubt that Vertonghen could be done, but even then the club might ask Ajax and Jan, considering the circumstances, to delay proceedings.

Brownhead's info is good news. The only thing stopping me getting too excited is that JJ gave someone an optimistic rating yesterday when they said they thought we would sign some players before the Euros started.

I did really want Harry to stay, regardless of the fuck up we had last season. The way he's got us playing is great and we just need to get a striker, Vertonghen plus a few bench upgrades and we're set for the season.
