I think that Levy must have agreed that Harry can write out the cheques for players worth only a few £million but only levy will buy players over the £5million mark that's why we are linked to sonmany journey men and this way Harry doesn't put the chairman under any pressure to buy, keeps levy happy, and if we don't get the results it's not harrys fault cos he could only spend small... Does that make sense? isn't thT the reasons he gave when buying pineear (sp)...?

Nice idea but incredibly limited from a business/accounting point of view (what about the huge wages for example); Harry i'm sure hasn't got a scooby about that side, just as i'm sure Levy hasn't about recognising footballing talent - they work in tandem, with scouts, the board, other representatives of the club (agents included) to decide on and then go through with the deal.

Just been talkin' with a yunited fan who claimed that "modric to united was a done deal at £ 20 million"......when i stated that levy wouldnt sanction such a deal on a player who we bought for £16.5 million and whose value had rocketed since his arrival, he backtracked and babbled some bollocks about "oh and berbatov of course plus one other"........i thought "fuck off and the horse you rode in on"............whaddya reckon??? Other beauties he spouted were nani plus sizeable amounts of cash for sneider and nasri for a chunk a wonga.....claims that ol red nose is looking for a barcelona-esque midfield trio of modric, sneider and nasri.............if this comes to fruition i have spotted a way of overcoming it!!!!!! Vinnie Jones, outta retirement and bang.... they wouldnt know what hit em!!! sometimes the old ways are the best!!!!!

No - what's happened here is you've just made a load of stuff up and decided it happened.

Its not happening according to Harry 100%.

Levy is a businessman and loves doing a deal but even he understands the problem when you sell your best player a year after getting into the champs league. It was different with Berbatov on a few levels.
Levy would sell Bale before Modric and be more aware and afraid of that as that will probably happen after next season. Unfortunately Bale is also more replaceable than Modric and for 40 mill + more sellable especially overseas.

It's a smiley, no need to take it personally, it was a tongue in cheek thing.

Bastos is as much a striker as when the ginger Pele - Gary Doherty used to slot in for us. And Bale has played as striker for Wales before.

I like Bastos and would happily have him in the squad - we could rest Bale or BAE without a drop in quality. Surely that's a no brainer in the squad based game it is nowadays.

thats my opinion buddy u dont like it i dont give a fuck..i have plenty of mates who all support other teams and all just laugh at ekotto. they dont rate him one bit. i just grin and take it but ekotto is average left back in my eyes. he doesnt create enough , he doesnt score at all, he doesnt tackle hard enough , he is not solid and is got at easily. not good in air, he does enough to just get by but thats all.. a position i hope we will improve on.. u look at player like baines. he scores free kicks, pens, and gets fowrad time and againa nd gets so many crosses in.. cole does same although doesnt score as much evra same.. they are serious threat going forward.. ekotto give me a fucking break..

I will put this in plain English for you. You have no idea what you are talking about and definitely not when it comes to football. I speak under correction but I remember you defending Jenas as well which simply illustrates my first point that you don't know anything about this game and neither do your mates. I am telling you without a shadow of a doubt that he would have walked the award for player of the year if Modric didn't get it.

Ask yourself why would Bastos want to come to spurs to be a squad player to fill in every now and then in a few different positions??? In my view not going to happen

the better players are going to come because they think they will be number one in their chosen position and indeed will probably be TOLD they will be

its just delusional to think the higher quality players are going to come to us to be bit part players

where we have a chance of signing the best players is in the positions where we know we are weak so the players coming know they will be an improvement and therefore guaranteed starts - IMO

Regarding Bastos, I think it would be a great signing and signal of intent, but how many players are we linked with in the press every single window and how many do we actually sign or confirm we're interested in? I'd say around 2% if that. They can mention Tottenham all they want, but there are no quotes or club statements and I'm pretty certain this will once again witter down to nothing like the rest of the rumours do.

Also, that Bastos link is not ITK, nor has he been mentioned by an ITK at any time during this window (AFAIK). Therefore, it should really be in a player created thread. I don't even think there is one on Bastos. A new name every day it seems.
