If we can pay 20 mil over a few years, as opposed to all up front, that wouldn't be terrible (even acknowledging that it seems absurd to pay 20 mil for SB when Dzeko is signing for 70% of that). Let's put it this way though - I'd rather pay 20 mil for SB than 15 mil for Charlie Austin...

I took it as that what we would go to.
But nothing to say what WBA will accept
Wouldn't he say 'we would be willing' to pay that then? To me, he was categorically stating that we will be paying that money to West Brom.

wouldn't he say we have bought him for £18-20m if that's what we are getting him for?

It's quite mad to think we sold Keane to Liverpool for £20m. It's amazing to see what the TV money has done to the market.

Never been privvy to any info and never really likely to be however as this deal is involving a midlands club I may have some tenuous ITK

My mate just told me that his millionaire friend who is renting out a £5,000 a month 5 bedroom barn conversion has agreed to let it to Jozy Altidore as he's about to sign for West Brom. Take that how you will but would hopefully be linked to us signing Berahino

Just thought I'd pass on

I can't see this happening. I expect Pullis is more than aware of the outstanding job Altidore did the opposite of at Sunderland.

Why would West Brom accept £18m if they know we're willing to pay £20m? :bored:

I'm assuming they read the ITK forum and are in the loop.

The more forwards WBA sign, the more impending Berahino's departure looks... The ITK has been fairly constant that Berahino is headed in our direction

Not really worth posting in full as it was part of a conversation about protracted deals, but earlier Jasper mentioned how now is all about the "waiting game".

Just suggests that nothing is imminent. For all we know, we're waiting for West Brom to sort out a new striker, which would trigger Berahino to us, followed by Soldado going back to Spain.

I'm quite relaxed about it all. Probably won't be if nothing has changed a couple of days before the window closes.
