Sorry, I didn't upload my extensive collection of other team's top secret scouting reports. Maybe google it?

I'm sure no one at all has been looking at a young English goalscorer at a lesser club as a potential investment. He fits right in our alleged transfer policy.

Well I have to concede defeat, paying 20m (this is the figure my entire point has been about) for Berahino is indeed in line with many of our recent transfer dealings....Lamela, Paulinho and Capoue immediately spring to mind. Thanks for the clarification.

Yanited have just sold Di Maria and look very likely to be losing De Gea. They need a signal of intent signing imo and for a CL club the size of Yanited, that is not Berahino.
Cavani springs to mind.
Soon as that hots up Berahinos advisors should get the message pretty quick and the ball should start rolling pretty quick imo

It seems my mate was pulling the plonker of me and a few other lads in our whatapp group about Altidore (the ****) but seriously has confirmed its 'Rondon' or Solomon Rondon Gimenez. Either way they've signed a striker.

That's all comps for both seasons by the way. Should have made that clear. He's more proven than most strikers his age that's the point is all.

Still don't see where the double figures came from in 2013/14. That season he had a far worse scoring record in the league than Adebayor's "terrible" and "lazy" first season under AVB, so not quite one to use as an example of ability.

I wouldn't say that he's "more proven", I think he very much has a lot to prove this coming season, not only in terms of his ability, but also in terms of his maturity.

Charlie Austin, by comparison, was scoring more goals than games at 20 (granted, at a lower level) and has been brilliant at every level.

If we were to sign one of the apparent peen-arses that we've been linked to by ITK, I'd rather it be the cheaper one that lives down the road.

Charlie Austin was playing for Poole Town and Swindon when he was 20 come on now.

That's why I said at a lower level. Berahino did play at those levels when he was on his loans, to less effect, as did Kane.

A lower level doesn't always mean easier - it's tough down there, and that's why I think he thrived in the PL at a team as turd as QPR

It's pointless trying to figure out a player's potential, there are just so many factors involved. Kane was a player I genuinely didn't think would make it into our first team, and now he's one of our most important players.

I get what you mean about Austin being a cheaper alternative that has a proven scoring record, but there's more to consider than just banging in the goals. Firstly, Kane has that spot, so Austin won't get regular game time. The two of them won't play together, and Austin (like most #9s) will need game time to get into that scoring rhythm. Secondly, Berahino is more than just a striker. He can play a couple of roles and can potentially be a good foil for Kane.

ali z on ade: More like he said yes then said oh yes but i want x y and z or no deal.

ok ive got nothing, coys tomorrow!

Why do I get the feeling that Ade said yes before Benteke moved, and then as soon as Benteke went he started getting cheeky since he knew that they'd be desperate for a striker?

I think Kane plays better in the #10 position - he likes to drop back and build up play, and scored a lot of goals from that position. If anything, I think Kane could learn a lot from CA that could take him up another level.

It's just opinion, but I don't feel that SB is going to have a happy ending for us
