If Diarra is done then today should be a busy ITK day. Fingers crossed for some info from Peanut and POTL soon. I think Ryan said last night that he should be getting an update today as well.

If rumours are to be believed surely he'd be having a medical today? Or is that done?

Some suggestions that it would be announced to the stock market tomorrow morning?

Just taken a phone call from my work colleague as his source attended a sports dinner over the weekend in order to mingle with others of his type and there are a lot of rumours flying around with regarding all clubs, but he has told me some info this morning regarding Spurs.

Here we go, expect Tottenham to line up with the usual strike force for Everton and maybe until the very end of the window. Three striker targets, Adebayor, Rossi and llorente all have complications and all could play out until someone moves drastically to change things.

Adebayor, as i have said before still thinks Madrid is a possiblity and until this avenue is shut, we are unlikley to be able to get him. For anyone that thinks wages is an issue, yes they are to a point but not completely out of reach. we would be trying for a loan with a view to purchase. Remember we nearly got him in Jan, so is certainly possible but in negotiations sometimes the goalposts constantly move, so we will have to sit tight and see.

Rossi, For what i have been told this is/was our top target, but they hold all the cards at the moment and we would have to come up with some serious money to get him to WHL, again a lot of waiting and biding time going on regarding this one.

Llorente, i know there is conflicting ITK on this one with some thinking it is possible and others not so, but i have been advised that this could happen depending on the two above, he would be the easiest to acquire due to wages etc but again the initial purchase price would be sizeable.

This is the first time i have been given so much info, so i hope he is not winding me up, and is true to what he has advised. So far he has been right with info given to me regarding adebayor only to be backed up a few days later by ITK etc. If he is right then we have to sit tight on this and hope one of the above three come off, if not then i am sure there will be a plan b in place and then god only knows who we will go for

I personally dont think Ben is right with his Llorente information.
There would be other noises for it to be true.

Weren't the commentators talking about it during the game on Saturday?

I haven't seen anything about a medical yet. Hopefully we'll get some news on that from someone this morning.

Nothing against Barton per se but this type of player although proven in the Prem and puts in a shift everytime, is not what we need at the moment we are on the crest of wave and are we gonna go for it and ride the big waves if so we've gotta keep pushing for "top top" players a la modric who offer more than just bite, otherwise we let that awesome wave pass us by and humbly wait for the next big swell - which may never come our way again... I worry like a father for my spurs

i think this is looking increasingly likely now. I think the situation is starting to look quite simple. To get a top top striker (Rossi/Llorente/Adebayor) we're going to have to spend the sort of money that we haven't spent before, particularly when it comes to wages.

Whether Levy will do this, and whether we can afford to do it, is another question entirely. If not then I hope we've got some backup options in the lower price bracket.

I can't see the need for Barton whatsoever. We have Modric, Sandro, Huddlestone, Diarra on the way in... and we're still yet to shift Palacios and Jenas. Hopefully this one's a non-goer, because I wouldn't want to see him ahead of any of our main 4 CMs.

Given how quiet it's all gone on the striker front, I think it's very likely we'll see VdV and Pav up top for us this Saturday. I think we can still get a result against Everton and Hearts, but I shall be very worried if we're approaching the Man U game without any new strikers.

This waiting to the last minute is too risky in our current situation, especially with the early games we have. We needed someone in already with a preseason under his belt in the team to hit the ground running. I'm really hoping something comes out of left field that will pleasantly surprise me a la Van der Vaart, but not exactly the Monday news we all want. I fail to understand why we look to be tying up Diarra for a substantial sum, rather than a fucking striker!

Cheers for the info Steve!

This striker issue is going to run to the last milisecond of the window by the sounds of things......

Absolutely agree - although I think Diarra is a solid addition to the squad (if we sell Palacios, then Diarra would represent an upgrade in that defensive midfielder role).

I'm not surprised that yet again, the club appears paralysed during the transfer window - apparently unable to move the deadwood off the books by trying to recoup a significant portion of the original transfer fees on poor purchases (most notably Bentley & Keane). I'm all for trying to minimise losses on player sales but it's increasingly looking like the club is penny wise and pound foolish....

This waiting around is bollocks. I fully understand the games being played out but the fact is we have our toughest start to a campaign in years and we haven't got anyone to improve us.

Waiting around until the end of August is pointless if we go and lose to United, City et al.

Jacon on COYS :

I am in a position to reveal a bit more.

Wages have been a big issue this window.
Star of Real Madrid should be announced soon.

Some other things in the pipeline which may split the opinion of the fans.

If we could bring in Rossi, Diarra and Ruiz this week i'm sure the doom and gloom will be lifted. However going by our record so far in this transfer window I won't hold my breath on even one signing happening.

Personally can't believe a lot of the waiting to see what happens information. Mostly because I don't want to but also that I don't believe the club would be so stupid as to not improve our strikeforce after it cost us so much last year. I honestly don't see the value in not having our new players in as early as possible and certainly in for the first game of the season (even if they are on the bench due to lack of fitness).

no no regardless of players in or out we don't lose 2 league games on the bounce. My guess would be WLD from the first 3 fixtures. 3 games and 4pts having plaed 2 of the top 6 i can live with.
