Perhaps a shame we did not keep Uvini... He reminded me somewhat of Dawson...

One way or another I want LD sorted. We've been trying to get him into a Spurs shirt for years.
If a deal can be done, get it done. If not then move on.

I'd be very surprised if Dawson was to leave.

Perhaps during pre-season AVB got as sick as I am of Dawson's incessant hoofs up field leading to unnecessary losses of possession

And imagien if after all this time we have a complete clown on our hands :p

Cant see it though. I've now watched him in 7 games and he has scored 8 goals in them. Impressive.

Interesting ITK this morning but then I absolutely take any information via the Goat with a huge dose of salt as it's extremely hit and miss.

Lot of smoke re Leandro so would like to think this will eventually happen although we've been here so many times before but it is intriguing about Dawson and perhaps this is the high profile/unpopular casualty of the AVB regime. As i've stated previously, he seems a really likeable guy and gives his all to the club but he is limited and whilst I wouldn't necessarily want to offload as he will prove his worth over a course of season in rotation, if an offer comes in too good to refuse then I can see why we would entertain such.

Would be disappointing to see Dawson go. He has obvious limitations when it comes to pace, and once he is turned he is getting back. But he is a true die hard defender. Someone I think we need in the camp. If we could blend him and Bassong not only would we have an ugly person, but we'd have a great CB. Bassongs pace, Dawsons defensive ability.

Would this suggest a further signing or a lifeline for BAssong?

Kaboul, Caulker, Vertonghen + 1 of BAssong/Dawson/Gallas/Newbie???
TBH, I don't think Dawson's pace would be an issue if he read the game better.

Who: The Goat
When: 9th August
Where: SC

Word has reached The Goat that AVB has been telling people Leandro is ours. We also hear that Dawson may well be off.

If true I hope this isn't naivety on AVB's part, everyone knows a deals not done until it's signed by all parties. Also I'd be disappointed if we sold Daws and kept Bassong or Gallas or bought in Carvalho as a replacement.

I'd be disappointed to see Dawson go as he has always been prepared to stick his body on the line for the team and his fighting spirit is obvious to all. I do agree about the hoofing but our CB choices are now Gallas, Caulker, Verts and Kaboul and thats not a terrible situation to be in!

Sad about Dawson, but if true about LD, that is awesome.

I like Dawson, but he is a bit old school in his style of play, that's no bad thing and that **** Terry has built his career on that type of defending, but it's not the way AVB does things and as such we'll have to accept the loss if he goes. It is clear that defense has been probably our main weak point for a few seasons now and so i can see why AVB wants to change things about a bit.

Co-incidentally i can see Carvalho coming this way if Dawson leaves...

Fairly positive news today then if true. Would be great to get Leandro on board and if we did have to pick an established player that we'd be sorry to see go then Daws is probably the lesser of many evils in that respect under the circumstances. Perhaps a bit less VDV panic today then? Maybe not.

Another sunny, warm, fun filled day. Would have given you a neg rep for that little intro, but don't really do that sort of thing ;). Anyway, whilst we are on that subject... (stop it hoopspur, it's tedious!!).

Daws - I don't really know. Billy J was right, it became the guess the Spurs player yesterday, someone started it and peeps finally settled on Dawson. Sssshhh, don't whisper it whatever you do. We'll see.

Getting rid of someone like Dawson is risky imo. Guy has heart, and as we have seen with Terry over the years, that can be invaluable. He has his faults and is technically found wanting, but in a crunch situation he's exactly the kind of blood and sweat defender you want in your squad.

cant see dawson going, unless we have a replacement in. No getting to excited about leandro, been hearing the same story for the last two years.
