Well well well, the first ITK conflict has started(ish). Ben saying MP worried Berahino upset harmony and Mystery saying MP still wants Berahino.

Personally sceptical about Saido and his attitude, but we shall see.
Apart from his attitude, there's his fitness. I don't know if that was what Pulis was alluding to (i.e. not trainig well), but even if not, there's no way he can be up to Spurs levels, without the Poch pre-season, and constantly being on the bench.

Actually it is completely relevent because it also matters who offers what Peace finds acceptable.

I agree, even the slightest whiff from Utd or Liverpool and Peace would rather sell to them, IMO, this deal might just get drawn out again.

He's WBA best trainer according to WBA fan sites, that apart he never applauds fans, refuses to get warmed up, drink drives, falls out with colleagues but he does love his mum.

Can I ask why you use the term sheckle (correct spelling is shekel btw) ? If Daniel Levy was a Roman Catholic or a Buddhist would you still use the term ?

Don't turn this into an Anti Semite complaint. Levy has a reputation as a tough negotiator and whatever you think we have a heavy Jewish influence in personnel. If it was Newcastle/Sunderland we'd be talking about Pies, Liverpool - giro chequers, Chelsea, Roubles. Etc etc. It's part of the humour.

I'm really sorry but casual anti-semitism isn't humorous and is just as abhorrent as the fully fledged BNP variety.

If Peace decides to waffle on possible interest from Spurs then it's quite likely Tottenam will move on to an alternate target. Then WBA may very well be left with a player the coach doesn't want and just see his value plunge as the season progresses. Peace needs to think first about his Club and not false pride.

I like you Col M and it's ok not to understand but on this you couldn't be more wrong.

Shekel is the Israeli currency and has absolutely nothing to do with a chap from Essex who just happened to have the good fortune to be born Jewish.
Levy has no known connection to Israel nor do large swathes of Spurs fans (except for @riggi). It's up there with calling Micky Mousers murderers for Hillsborough

I'm not getting involved in this one...

Don't think anything was meant by the term 'shekels', just a tongue in cheek nod to our Jewish links.
I'm pretty sure that no offence was meant and if some was taken, I'm sure the poster would be apologetic.

The accusation of racism can be all to easily thrown around these days.
It was nothing offensive and there's no reason for censoring humour.

I have no doubt that was nothing meant by it, just banter. Except behind that banter is the clearly racist insinuation that all Jews are Shylock types who are stingy, a classic anti-Semitic caricature, sadly one that is so ingrained that people no longer even realise when they are doing it. I'm the last person for being over PC but I really like SC and I'd hate for it to become a place where Jews felt like they had to accept such "banter" or leave.

It's dodgy ground to refer to his Jewish background in a negative way, joke or not. Didn't that pitiful 'comedian' in France who Anelka was mates with claim his anti-semitism was just for laughs? Humour shouldn't be censored, but when the content is hostile towards someone and makes reference to their irrelevant ethnicity/religion then it should be criticised, which is what's happened here.

Back on transfers, I agree with Gary Neville's recent comments, that football has become obsessed with solving problems with transfers when there are players already at the club who could probably be coached into doing the job required.

Just look at some of the signings we've made recently seemingly for the sake of bringing in players: Fazio, Capoue, Stambouli. Neville was impressed with Poch and I imagine this has a lot to do with his willingness to trust the current squad.

We didn't panic buy in the summer when we couldn't get Berahino, nor should we in January.

For all the people saying that we need to spend in January to make the most of our chance to finish highly I ask this genuine question: when has a team ever won the league or finished unexpectedly in the top four after spending big in the mid-season window?

That's fair mate.
I admit that I didn't make the link about Jews being stingy but just because I didn't, doesn't mean other people won't.

I think most racial stereotypes are humorous though, light hearted and more affectionate than offensive.
Marcus Brigstock did a great routine about reclaiming race as a place for comedy again.

Nobody should ever feel uncomfortable enough to want to leave though.

Not strictly the January window as it didn't exist back then but Cantona signed for United in late November 1992, they came from behind to win the title by 10 points.

I am with you on not panicking but I think the angst stems from the Jan 12 signings of Saha and Nelson, which were felt to be contributory factors in our collapse that season. I'm not sure they were causative but many people feel they were.
