Just wonder why can't we sign one quality player a season?

That's the ideal. A big part of our downfall over the past 25 years has been going to quality over quantity.

For me there's only 2/3 gaps in our squad at the moment - competition for Chadli, cover for Kane, and possibly cover for Bentaleb (if we don't give Stambouli another season). We shouldn't be faffing around with other pointless no improvement trades (e.g. TA for Fazio at CB). Just spend the rest of the window going for a LWF and CF.

Well all I've really learnt from this ITK thread today is that a LOT of our fans need to get a f*cking life.

Boggles the mind how some people come out with the crap they do just from reading a bit of ITK.

You didn't figure that out until today? ;)

Lol. We're not signing Benteke to sit on our bench. It's not happening. Going by the majority of our links it looks like we're after a versatile wide forward who can rotate with both Kane and Chadli.

No point spending big on another striker when we only one up front.

Or may be you should accept we're all entitled to an opinion and leave the personal digs at home...

Not a personal dig mate and apologies if it upset you but this is an ITK forume where we get good and bad news all of which needs to be taken with the proverbial pinch of salt...but your take on it is so negative surely JJ's positivity gives you some hope to balance the loss of potential targets like Martial

It's difficult to be positive when we're hearing potential quality signings dropping like flies and those who are still on the radar, the players club doesn't want to sell. Whereas say PSG were prepared to sell Rabiot and we were trying to negotiate a reasonable fee then yes there's reasons to be positive. To have any hope of pushing the top 4 next season it's critical we bring in a quality central midfielder, a creative wide player with a yard of pace and another forward who we can rely on should Kane get injured/have a drop in form.

I don't get all the doom and gloom. We just finished 5th. We are not losing any key players from the team that finished 5th in the league. We have added some depth to the team before the window even opens. Wimmer, Trippier, Alli, Pritchard alone make the overall squad better than last year - because we will have more depth that Pochettino is willing to play. We can expect the returning 1st team players to be improved and re-invigorated - experience, continuity and a full pre-season alone will make us better than last season.

Our transfer work is not done, and while we (including me) all would love a player who slots into the starting XI, if we did no other business, we are better than we were last year. Its time to appreciate what we have, and if we get anything else, consider it a bonus.

Have given this a like as I agree with the positions you mention we need to buy cover but couldnt give agree rating as I dont agree that we need to be dispondant about our activity at this point. In fact this as a Spurs fan is about the most chipper I get we havent lost in weeks!!!!!!

On the other hand we do need an effective striker up front to knock in the goals if Kane gets injured, loses form or needs a rest. Benteke would be a quality addition to the side. I believe that they could play well together with Kane in the #10 role.

I agree but that's forgettingthat our rivals have also strengthened.

You're only as good as the teams around you, and the same applies to transfers.

Let's be honest, finishing fifth last season covered over a lot of cracks. We were miles away from competing for a CL place.
