So. Interesting to see how we go from here.
Some good signings. Short up front if injuries hit Kane/Son (and I know we are wanting more goals from elsewhere).
What happened to the other options that Paratici had for each need?
I think that expectations should be fairly managed as much as possible in future, as we are often disappointed because of hopes being raised too much each window.
We maybe get too much information about hopes and aspirations at the beginning of windows but I understand people want to know about that stuff.

Can't help but think Traore is going to have a great season. He's impacting games in more obvious ways than previously (3 key passes per 90, 4 shots per 90) and if he keeps playing like that, he should be getting plenty of goals and assists.

He might not get much cheaper than this summer. Maybe he will cost 30, not 50 mil, but he should demand more in wages and bonuses certainly.

I personally think that anyone over the age of 12 years old is grown up enough to manage their own expectations and should not be relying on people that pass on info to manage it for them.

I read that the argies can avoid this and will fly to Croatia to train for 10days and then dont need to isolate in UK?

And also talks about isolating at Spurs Lodge to keep fit?

Maintaining fitness is all fine and well, but if the red list countries don’t change in our favour, it’s still going to be ten day chunks at a time where they will be unavailable for the actual games. That could cover 1-2 games every single time they are gone, plus a lack of actually training with the squad and manager.

The concession needs to come from the UK government and nowhere else. Given the money and circumstances involved it seems utterly farcical that a resolution can’t be found through sporting bubbles in foreign climes and stricter testing.

I myself have travelled under an elite sport exemption a few times in the last couple of months which enabled me to not have to self isolate when coming home and I can guarantee I would have been at more risk of catching and spreading it then these guys would, going to red list countries and the conditions upon which they would travel and work in

I think this was compounded by Romario’s fake exuberance and positivity about the way Paratici operated.

How Nieve of us to just assume Traore will just come to us next year. He'll have way more options probably next year. Sometimes you just got to bite the bullet
There's bigger chance players like Neto(if he returns from injury), Raphinha or Sarr will be better options that actually can score a goals regularly. And that's only 3 options from current PL players

I normally wait a couple of days before my post window postmortem, because more things have come to light and there is a bit more balance to it. What I am sure of right now is it was 100% DL that pulled the plug on any potential deal for Traore on deadline day. Yesterday morning we were all hearing exactly the same that we were going back in for him. by 2pm it was "no chance he's too much money and will half that price next Summer with one year left."
Contradictory ITK. DL probably did pull the plug as he's the boss but it was probably after a reasonable conversation with Nuno and Fabio. I can't see how those two would think 40 cash and 50 in total was reasonable and got stroppy as we heard last night

I just realised I never knew of any of the players we've signed this Summer. Props to Fabio.

It’s more nuanced than that. I am a huge Bale fan, but Bale only played in 20 games and scored 11 in 6. Many of the goals came once the season was decided. We we were 7-5 in games he played more than 45 minutes.

Also, for some reason people keep leaving Dele out of these conversations and he played in only 15 games and just 7 over 45 minutes. It’s almost like an acquisition if he can get back any form. I think we have more goals in Stevie, Lucas, and Bryan, but more importantly our defense should let in less goals.
This, and also hopefully not having 11 people camping around our penalty area once we score a goal should lead to more goals overall as well. Back up striker would have been ideal but I suspect Scarlett will probably get similar amount of minutes that Vinicus had last year.

That’s a great point too. Not sitting back and absorbing pressure once we score should lead to more goals in the side.

Maybe.

We only pass on what we hear, and unfortunately that means taking the truth along with the source's opinion. I've said many times my info comes partly from agents partly from someone at the club who admittedly hasn't been at the top table for a while but is still well connected. I always make a point of saying if the source on a specific subject is particularly well placed because I get that the context changes depending where it's come from. For instance there are certain transfer dealings that I've known literally everything about because it's come direct from the agent dealing with the transfer.

That said I've not enjoyed this window at all. I think the tone towards those that pass bits on has been pretty poor throughout. I know it's a minority but I do feel the snide digs, the circumventing of the rules via clever wording in posts and how the emoji system has been abused to say things posters can't outright say has increased quite substantially. So I am fairly sure I'll be changing how I pass things on in the future because everything now is jumped upon as soon as it doesn't quite pan out in the readers mind. I'll still be talking with others behind the scenes, and I'll still post bits and use the goat as and when. What I won't do is post the play by play stuff as I hear it because things do change, and could well have changed by the time I've heard and posted. I've been doing this a long time and pass even more back of house than the forum ever see's.

Like I said I'll post a postmortem in a couple of days of how I've heard things went down, and we will see if we can work out a better way to pass stuff in the future. I'm here as a Spurs fan first and foremost, and everything else is secondary.

COYS.

Tbh, in the cold light of day, this makes sense.

Essentially it's a case of waiting 10 months and purchasing him and another player for the same money.

And even if he has a great season, we still have Nuno at the club to entice him.

Levy pulling the plug on Ings (if that's what happened), is not so good though...

It's not just a question of what we save on Traore if we go back in next summer, but also the implications for the players who would have been dropped for him. Bergwijn and Lucas have both looked pretty good in pre-season, Bergwijn in particular could really step up a level if the goals just start coming for him. He has the ability, but lacks the confidence in front of goal. If selling him now would have been required to fund Traore I get the hesitancy.

It will be very interesting to see how Bergwijn and Traore match up this season, as well as Emerson and Tomiyasu, just to see if we made the right calls or not.

Am I the only one that is satisfied with our window give we fixed most of the problem areas through signings and players coming back from loan (and some being coached back into form)?

Yes we could have brought in Traore for 40mill and the early promise of Martinez had us excited but I think the only areas we didn't improve where Creative CM and CF alternative and we already have fall back options in Ndombele and Scarlett - which may work and save us a lot of money or may not and wouldnt be the end of the world.

I don't think he would help with the balance of our team.
