It's very easy to see that a 50m deal for Traore would have been a bad cost/value tradeoff. The thing is (and we have been here before) WHY on earth did we end up on deadline day with him being our only option for an attacking player? I guess I could see that in the past windows with Levy being the stubborn bastard that he is, but Paraciti should have identified and moved along other targets (I don't know if he did this or not, but we haven't heard about much the past few weeks).

It's not like the market for upgrading on a 17 year old Scarlett is small.

£12m difference between Nuno and Jose's wages too. Massive savings - makes you wonder why we couldn't push the overall net spend a bit higher tbh.

I really do believe that the net spend calculator enter button was broken... because of the potential of empty seats in the stadium due to the Delta Variant

Now we have the squad complete after the TW we can set our expectations and then not be too disappointed. We have squad to compete for 6th with West Ham, Everton and Villa etc. If we have a great season and Leceister hve a poor season we may challenge for 5th but we will have to be lucky with injuries for sure
I agree I think 5th is our ceiling this year.

I wonder if that £30m will get added to Paratici’s next budget. I imagine it’ll disappear down the memory hole. :censored:

Nah because then all of the loans with obligations will turn into obligations. All part of Levy's plan to make 1 window worth of business LOOK like 2 windows.

"We bought Romano, Gil, Royal etc in Summer '21!"
"We spent 100M in Summer '22!" (conveniently leaving out that the 100M was the '21 loans turning into obligations)

Maybe.

We only pass on what we hear, and unfortunately that means taking the truth along with the source's opinion. I've said many times my info comes partly from agents partly from someone at the club who admittedly hasn't been at the top table for a while but is still well connected. I always make a point of saying if the source on a specific subject is particularly well placed because I get that the context changes depending where it's come from. For instance there are certain transfer dealings that I've known literally everything about because it's come direct from the agent dealing with the transfer.

That said I've not enjoyed this window at all. I think the tone towards those that pass bits on has been pretty poor throughout. I know it's a minority but I do feel the snide digs, the circumventing of the rules via clever wording in posts and how the emoji system has been abused to say things posters can't outright say has increased quite substantially. So I am fairly sure I'll be changing how I pass things on in the future because everything now is jumped upon as soon as it doesn't quite pan out in the readers mind. I'll still be talking with others behind the scenes, and I'll still post bits and use the goat as and when. What I won't do is post the play by play stuff as I hear it because things do change, and could well have changed by the time I've heard and posted. I've been doing this a long time and pass even more back of house than the forum ever see's.

Like I said I'll post a postmortem in a couple of days of how I've heard things went down, and we will see if we can work out a better way to pass stuff in the future. I'm here as a Spurs fan first and foremost, and everything else is secondary.

COYS.
Top post and top man , trix you’re very well appreciated on here as are all the ITK’s don’t let the minority ruin that perspective.

My money would be on him signing a new deal before January, and his price being at least 50% higher than it was yesterday.

My money would be on him holding out. He has the whip hand and everything Wolves did yesterday will have pissed him off.

Not only did they not sell him as he wanted, but Wolves completely bollocksed their transfer window to the extent that their manager, who was complaining that he needed more players in his squad because he only had 19, ended up with 18 because the Board loaned one out. Apparently, Jeff Shi, their Chairman, believed there would be plenty of bargains in Europe on the final day and had set his strategy accordingly, only to find that a) there weren't, b) those that were didn't want to come to Wolverhampton c) the one that did wouldn't be fit for several months and d) he didn't have any money anyway because Daniel refused to give him any.

Everyone associated with Wolves is deeply pissed off and Molineux Mix is calling him 'Jeff Shi with the silent T' at the moment.

Honestly, I think by the time we get to January, Wolves will be in the bottom three still. I appreciate this may be wishful thinking on my part because Kenny Hibbitt's a **** and I hate Wolves, but I do think they'll struggle and, come January, they'll have a depreciating asset and a desperate need to re-evaluate their squad options. That doesn't mean that Traore comes to us, or that we'll still want him, or that we'll pony up the cash if we do, but it does mean that there's absolutely no benefit in him committing himself to Wolves IMO.

We wasted too much time on the Kane transfer on a bid that never arrived the deadline was last Friday?. So we were looking at Vlaovic and Martinez whose price inflated beyond our means. If the Kane debacle didn't happen we may have moved for a Striker earlier on the window, not of the same quality. That's my take.

On careful reflection of the whole window...
...hmmmm, WALOB!

I wanted revolution within the squad and not a slow evolution. I was so pissed off with Jose, Levy and most of the players last season I frankly couldn’t have cared less if most, if not all, had been sold and been replaced. A new broom so to speak. I’ve lost my love for many of them, but not the actual club/badge.

I was semi hopeful - our revered ITK’s and others suggested that this might possibly happen, or at least a chunk of it anyway. But no, it’s the same old nonsense from all - the club (DL “I have lost focus”), the messages and the action. Yes, there are undoubtably reasons but we’re potentially left with a slightly updated version of the same old shit. I hope we’re moving forward and not paddling as fast as hell to even keep pace with where we were. A couple of the additions hopefully will provide some interest - looking forward to watching Bryan again, but a lot of it is stale. I am not going to pick out areas as you know where yourselves.

Come On You Fucking Spurs - fucking do something!! Prove me wrong.

Personally I think it'll be a shame if you feel you have to change your approach as I enjoy your contribution as I'm sure others do. Stuff changes all the time especially when large sums of money and multiple people are involved. It just the nature of things.

That said if you do feel that making a change will make things more bearable then more power to you

On the face of it for this season it was a poor window. looking at the performances so far and the team selection I can see us struggling to get out of our half for the majority of away games and probably a few at home too. Very little press resistance in defence and midfield and in games where we might see more of the ball who is there to comit people and take them out of the game in midfield areas through passing or carrying the ball? No one if Lo Celso/Ndombele don’t up their minutes or Lucas doesn’t drop very deep

if we weren’t going to get in a ball playing centre half who can step out with the ball and a midfielder or two who can play on the half turn under pressure then Traore was a crucial signing imo. press resistant, can take the whole team up 20-30 yards consistently and just take players out of the game. His end product which isn’t as bad as made out on here is a complete red herring. The weakest part of his game is where we’re strongest and where we are going to struggle he could of tipped the scales.

City basically false Flagged Charlie and co. Led them to believe they were allies, all along was opposite. Maybe didn’t weaken us per se, but sure as fuck messed us around / got in there heads.

I am taking time to calm down, and emotions under Check. All I will say is, DL couldn’t help himself, but go get involved and overrule his DoF.
Trix alluded too it. I don’t take sides! I am not anti/pro DL. I share what I 100% know is true, and behind closed doors they know why it is so. Ratings used to bother me, but not no more. I will share with discretion. COYS
Thanks for sharing mate and throughout the tw excellent info quality and quantity the whole way through.

Such a shame if DL has stepped in last minute but not surprising at all. At least he let FP get on with it for the most part and we’ve made a decent effort at reshaping the squad.

It’s not perfect but we’re mabye 2 players off where we need to be now to be challenging right back at the very top.

If Ndombele can help out then arguably it’s just a back/up ST or upgrade AM who we need so hopefully we can get that in Jan or Summer depending on injuries and our budgets which should increase again once revenues start coming back in.

I'm so f****d off with the transfer windows. This window was the first time I've been properly involved with some info and I've experienced first hand the positive noises which come out of the club early doors only to be met by exactly the same shit every window! I was told to expect 3/4 more players in and it's ended up being 1.....f***ing 1!

I rated the window 7/10 as I think business on the whole has been decent and Paratici has started giving the squad the much needed revamp it needed. I understand it will take a few windows but we're seriously lacking creativity and no one can argue that. The fact Levy doesn't see it and has pulled the plug on deals when money upfront was requested is quite frankly disgraceful.

I usually give him the benefit of the doubt but he's royally f***ed me off today!

I say it every window but I will no longer get wrapped up in the hype which we always get early on in the window only to be replaced with a sense of disappointment at ANOTHER missed opportunity. I know Traore split opinions but I honestly think if we signed him today then top 4 was ours. If not Traore then another creative midfielder to give us that extra spark.

We simply cannot afford to miss out on CL anymore! Fuck off Levy, you're full of shit!

Hope everyone enjoyed deadline day ??‍♂️
Great summary, good balanced take on the window and thanks for all your brilliant info mate. COYS

@Achap Why the spam rating for? Just wondering, i could understand if you disagree or don't like but to spam the post? Thanks for reading my post anyway?
I spammed your post because of the bandwagon gratuitous anti-Levy/Enic portion. However, I agreed with the rest of your post so didn't want to put a disagree. I thought about it and decided that what I considered to be rabble-rousing Levy/Enic nonsense was better served with a spam rating. Last night's anti-Levy hate-fest had pissed me off, and you weighed in with another bit, which I thought was unjustified, and had little to do with your intelligent point about Traore's value next year.
I would also mention that a week or so ago, I got a spam rating (not from you) for mentioning - on a thread dedicated to the British Heart Foundation - that I had had a stroke, and encouraging people to contribute to the Foundation! So I wouldn't fret too much about other people's views of your posts.
No serious hard feelings I hope. (y)

Part of the reason I think fans get annoyed is that the ITK, media sources, Ally Gold etc clearly show a very positive message at the start (with many transfer windows) which suggests at the heart of the club Levy promises a lot but when it’s time to deliver pulls back, it could be something else but you get the impression we as a club set off with a grand vision but not always the intent to back it.

It’s much easier psychological to promise little but deliver alot than promise the world and deliver alot less than you say. For me the window was mixed, good and bad but it is slightly concerning Levy overruling his DoF. I hope Paratici and Nuno aren’t too angry regarding the Traore incident.

Apparently was offered to us when Villa agreed a deal. We probably said no due to personal terms. Apparently on 150k at Villa.
Even after the emotions of yesterday, I still think it was a great window minus us getting in Traore or a forward. I was really pleased we were able to move on CCV and Aurier at the deadline as well.

I'm just trying to remain holistic and heading into the season I was on board to give Nuno a few seasons for a proper rebuild. We got out a LOT of older players and replaced them with some of the brightest young prospects in various top leagues.

I, too, worry about where the goals where come from and hope for no injuries, but again am confident that with a few more windows, we'll have a very solid young squad that can challenge in a few seasons.

Challenging in a few seasons is a bit at odds with some of the snippets that Levy with the new stadium is desperate for CL football asap

I hope if we are doing a slow gradual rebuild to challenge in a few seasons the club adjusts ticket and merchandise prices (lol) to reflect our moderate ambitions rather than the current situation of the most expensive tickets in the country
