Another Ross Barkley update. I'm told he has not fully rejected Chelsea and they hope to reach an agreement that will see him move in Jan.

Oh, I agree, I personally don't see this as being a great window. We lost one excellent play and brought in one excellent player and one with a tone of potential. The only problem is that we didn't strengthen our midfield/attack which we needed to do. CL is going to be painful viewing I fear, espechially without Alli or Lamela.

The only way he'd "fail" a medical is if his injury was so bad that it had more implications than a normal hamstring injury. He obviously can't "pass" a medical with such an injury, but players get signed with minor injuries all the time.

Wouldn't that be a form of pre-contract agreement though, which would be against rules right now?!?!

We could outbid Chelsea and have Everton accept our offer...

I think Barkley had the choice of Chelsea now or Tottenham in January. Definitely convenient to make the transfer now, but he can stay at Everton, rehab and get fit, and then come to us for cheaper in January. Think it works out for everyone involved.

I don’t think Levy would be above paying 35m for him if he was healthy and we had something to gain from him coming now instead of Jan, but I just don’t think he can rationalize spending an extra 20m potentially just to have him rehab at Hotspur Way

If he decided not to join Chelsea, then why would they think they'll sign him in January? Would make sense if it fell through between the clubs but it clearly didn't

Pleat on 5 Live just said Janssen might go on loan.

In non-transfer news, he also said that Lamela is doing some training again.

And that after John Hartson failed a medical at us, we advised him and his agent not to make it public. They did, and he promptly went and failed a medical at Rangers, before signing for Celtic.

Good news regarding Lamela.
He and Rose are like mega signings
