If Llorente has one season with us he'll be knocking on 34. He'll have almost no value. So we're saying we're willing to spend 15m on a player with possibly no sell on value, who maybe stays 12-24 months.

If that's the case, I don't want to hear we wouldn't bid 30-40m for really good prospects who are younger, who will go up in value, after playing for us for 3 or 4 years.

Fair point but we need to ensure we are top 4 this season so we need players proven and ready for NOW

llorente is the best option we could get that will be happy to play second fiddle to Kane. It's all very well moaning about younger and better players, but any options are likely to be unhappy playing off the bench.
I think this is a great move, though I am sad to see Vincent leave.

My thoughts too. I'd prefer a loan to be honest, very hard on VJ to just turn up in the PL and deliver in a bit part role. That said £20m+ is a lot of cash and I don't think he was ever going to oust Kane or be willing to stay forever so his young age meant nothing really.

Would like to see Janssen get another chance (or a loan out). Llorente offers experience and a genuine aerial threat and we could put Trippier on in front of Aurier as a double sub if we need to snatch a goal.

Wonder if this will mean Kane changing position for certain games, no10 or playing from the left? might've helped on Sunday for example.

Can't see Llorente signing to sit on the bench as much as Janssen has.

And to think many moons ago a lot of us were here in this very thread with Llorente as the top star we were all desperate for ! As someone said he literally visited the ground on the day of the riots

I'm game for it, will add some grisled nous

A pacy winger to put the balls in for llorente he's a great header of the ball and playing with wingers would be playing to llorente' s strength

Maybe ambitious but hopefully there is a pacy player still in the pipeline

The way things are shaping up I'll be incredibly impressed:

Sell Walker - buy Aurier for half the cost City paid for Walker and who by all accounts is probably a better player - upgrade for a profit

Sell Janssen - buy Llorente for less than we get for Janssen - again an upgrade imo for a profit

Those two deals alone (assuming they come off) are incredible bits of business.

Nobody signs to sit on a bench. They sign to be part of a squad.

I think changing the game is the main point of a Llorente signing. I think he would have made a big difference. Watching the Chelsea match it was commented on that we had no one on the bench who could change the game. Plus the amount of games we will hopefully be playing means he will be worth whatever we are paying for him.

Herc said we're getting a wide forward. JJ said we're getting pace (but he could just mean Aurier - who knows). Gray seems all over the map. GM is apparently a no go. Not yet seen a link which slots smoothly. Time still to go!
